Cuts, Cuts, and More Cuts: Protesting “Target” for trying to open on Thanksgiving

Doc Thompson on 700 WLW covered a topic which demonstrates the epic clash of ideas in our modern-day. There is a man who is circulating a petition to prevent Target, the department store, from opening on Thanksgiving Day; because he’s concerned that it will interfere with his Thanksgiving dinner, since he will have to head in to work early to prepare for the late night opening. My first thought about the man is that he can choose to work for Target or not to. Those are choices within his control. But he does not have a right to alter the business strategy of Target to suit his Thanksgiving dinner. It is his job to alter his schedule around his employment. For Target to open on Thanksgiving is a market driven need. Target’s existence is not employee driven its market driven. That is the key discrepancy of our modern problems. This discussion about Target’s Thanksgiving plans comes as the smoke cleared from the Middletown City Council 4-3 decision to lay-off nine of their firefighters. The money just isn’t there. So the decision was to cut those jobs. What makes the decision worse and more impactful to the community of Middletown is because of Issue 2 being repealed, city council must lay-off the last hired, who also happens to be the cheapest. If Issue 2 would have held, the fire department could have let go of an employee who is just milking their way to retirement, who has obviously declined in performance over the years who might make 80K per year and must instead let go of two firefighters who only make 40K to attack the budget deficit goal. It’s nothing against the older employee, but they are simply too expensive, and if they are not performing at a 80K a year level, they should be let go so the fire department can keep the two firefighters who only make 40K. So Middletown had to cut 9 firefighters to meet their budget demands.

Of course there are more costs associated with these public employees besides just raw wages. At the Lakota School District the No Lakota Levy group figured out that the average employee at Lakota makes over $67 per hour of employment or $130,000 per year by the time all their benefits are factored in, and that is how a savings is made when lay-offs are implemented. The front end salary makes up a huge difference and when that is applied across a workforce of 20 to 200 it adds up to a very large number. Yes the firefighters showed up like all those other crazy public employees usually do and protested the lay-offs, but they forget that they are not management. They do not have a right to manipulate the management structure. They do have a right to find another job if they don’t like the conditions of employment, but they don’t have a right to scream like a bunch of little children to keep their job, just like the protestor at Target does not have a right to dictate when Target opens for business. Of course members of management hate to do it, nobody likes to lay off a worker, and nobody likes to fire employees, but it’s a reality of any management when the budget dictates. I’ve had to do it more times than I can remember and they all hurt. But when the money isn’t there, that is the grim reality. Check out video and the story from Channel 19 here:

But Middletown isn’t the only city going through this kind of thing. Monroe City Schools is having public meetings to try to figure out what they can do to close a $2.7 million dollar deficit. Monroe is looking to their southern neighbors in Lakota and Mason and seeing the tremendous tax increase resistance going on in those districts and is trying to avoid that same controversy.

Of course the clueless public worker who believes that all the jobs in society were created for their convenience will simply propose that taxes be increased to meet the budget deficits. This is the response at Lakota where the superintendent who is supposed to manage the finances of the district simply stated after the third levy defeat, “But the teachers have already taken a pay freeze.” Well………so much for management letting the employees know how hard-nosed the superintendent will be in reducing costs. Instead of exploring possibilities of approaching the teachers union to reduce their employee costs on the district, which are currently ridiculously high the superintendent says the teachers have accepted a “wage freeze,” as if that were enough! I’ve shown you at the link above how much those Lakota employees cost the taxpayers, and the obvious next step would be to reduce those costs to balance the budget approved by the community. That would be the next step if public workers thought the way the rest of the world does. No, instead, they only know how to lay-off workers or ask for more taxes to pay for their distorted view of reality. Management is virtually non-existent in public service and that’s how everything got out-of-control in the first place to deliver us upon this current crises.

But that’s not all; Cincinnati City Council which is now largely liberal because of the protest vote against supporters of Issue 2 will have to solve a much larger budget gap than they did a year ago. Postal workers are now protesting the closing down of a sorting station in Cincinnati, because the Postal Service is also broke! They think somehow by their chanting money will magically appear in their budget. They like the Target worker in Doc Thompson’s radio broadcast think that their jobs exist for their livelihoods, not the public they are supposed to serve. It seems beyond their reasoning to conclude that higher taxes to pay for their extraordinary benefits are not an option. Somewhere at some time someone told them that government creates jobs and since they now worked for the government, then they’d be cared for all their lives. Nobody told them that the utopia would collapse on itself when the money ran out and the pension payments were due. The politicians who made those promises are most likely in the Bahamas drinking pina coladas through a straw, living out their lives of looting off the public sector in relative security and comfort. Now all the promises that were made by those thieves are expected to be kept, and that means that some people will have to lose their jobs to fulfill those promises.

I think back to all the commercials that aired during the Issue 2 campaign when it was said that if we wanted to keep our firefighters, our police and our teachers then we needed to repeal Issue 2. People like me declared such statements as an outright lie.

Now, unfortunately people are learning who was telling the truth and who wasn’t, and they’ll come to regret what they’ve done to themselves. Chants, protests, and magic wands will not place money in your pockets and solve the problems. Only good management and strategic thinking will, and those who cling to the old ways will undoubtedly perish in the aftermath.

Things are about to get very, very ugly.

Don’t Be STUPID: Vote all school levies down, and VOTE YES on ISSUE 2

Darryl Parks of 700 WLW had a marvelous show on Saturday, November 5, 2011 just before the election where he covered all the different aspects involved in passing school levies and whether or not the funding is actually needed at the levels public education is demanding. When talking about school funding it becomes quickly evident that school districts all over America, particularly in Ohio have no idea what they are doing and are not functioning from any laws of business sense that the rest of society lives under. In public education the tail wags the dog and the dog reacts to that movement. And that behavior reminds me of the kind of man Al Gore is, an out-of-touch, big government liberal. So Darryl ahead of the election was discussing all the reasons people are stupid if they vote for a school levy. I came on with Darryl at 21:30. In fact this segment is so good you should listen to the entire broadcast which is 1 hour 19 minutes, so grab a snack and prepare to listen to the whole thing.

In the very contentious year of 2000 when George W. Bush ran against Al Gore for the presidency and liberals for the next 8 years could not forget about how close the election actually was and accused Bush of “STEALING” the election, a more startling statistic jumps out at us. Al Gore had 84% of the nation’s college professors cast a vote for him as president. Only 9% voted for Bush. So if the nation was evenly split between Bush and Gore pretty much 50/50, then what segment of society are producing members of the “education class?”

This isn’t a question of Republican against Democrats, because to me there wasn’t much difference between Bush and Gore regarding political philosophy. Both were big government advocates, which drew the split of the country’s opinion. But it is the perception of what Gore stands for that put him over the top among the very liberal-minded members of the “Education Class.” And in the year 2000 those college professors were providing bachelor and master’s degrees to the teachers who are in our schools today. Some of those teachers have become administrators and even superintendents, and show the footprint of that learned liberalism in virtually everything they do.

When I first started looking in to the whole school funding problem a year ago and applied the same rules I have used on myself when dealing with budget issues the very first thing that jumped out at me were the wages. They were just too high for the amount and skill level of those employees. Lakota, my school system was trying to maintain a wage structure that had no regulation. The school board meets twice a month to manage a $250 million dollar budget and they are the only guard against excessive spending. When the superintendent of the school makes more than the governor of Ohio, you have a major problem in importance perception, and that distortion permeates all the ranks of the administration. If after listening to Darryl’s broadcast and watching the I-Team investigations on those two links, and reading all the information I’ve put down here for your convenience, and you still vote for a school levy, then you can’t be helped. I would simply write you off as a contributing member of society by classifying you as a derelict of thought. You were obviously instructed by the same kind of people who voted for Al Gore and you left your brain in college where it was offered to the Al Gore quest to rid the world of Man-Bear-Pig and his “super cereal” efforts to save us all portrayed wonderfully by the cartoon South Park.

Because only people who have fried all their brain cells in some hippie diatribe of drug induced infestation would vote for a school levy. Only a brain-dead, tie die, pot smoking, pony tail wearing, over-weight, thin-skinned, overly sensitive, pimple popping, Marxist, tweed jacketed, Greenpeace loving, fool would vote for a school levy. Only an Al Gore voting, Clinton apologist who looks at Barack Obama as the second coming, and could name all the contestants of Dancing with the Stars but would fall short of naming a single one of their state reps would vote for a school levy. Only a person who completely sucks as a parent, and tries to cover up that suckiness with money would vote for a school levy. Only a person who believes in Man-Bear-Pig would vote for a school levy. In short, if you vote for a school levy………….AT ALL………………………you are STUPID!!!!! STUPID!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! STUPID!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! STUPID!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Why? Because as Darryl and I discussed, in the real world costs are regulated daily. I could never sit down in front of the owners who hire me and tell them that their payroll would just increase in an uncontrolled fashion infinitely, without any control. If I told an owner of a business, “You must increase your sales, (REVENUE) to meet your payroll, “ my life as a manager would be over in about 1/10th of a second. What the owner hires a manager for is to maintain the profit margin while driving down the costs. I would personally use the 10-80-10 rule.

Public schools do nothing close to this. What happens is the union lobby pushes to get school board members elected who work against a sleepy public not paying attention. Those school board members provide almost no management of community resources. The union negotiates great benefits for their members which lowers the resistance to paying union dues so that money can be used to purchase political lobby power. And when the district needs more money, they simple pass another levy. And there are a whole set of manipulations that the union lobby has embedded in the community from their radical teachings provided by groups like the NEA which instructs them. Some of those radical tactics are to cut busing, even though it’s a small cost of the whole budget. Cut electives because parents want those for their children. Cut sports, because many parents hope to obtain a scholarship to help pay for college. The union knows that by taking away what parents want, they can control the behavior of the parent. It’s done for the same reason that a parent might take away the favorite toy of their own child to control the behavior of the child. And for the residents of a community who don’t have kids in the district, the union lobby attacks them with guilt. “Can’t you pay the tax? Someone paid for your education, now you need to pay that back,” or sometimes outright vandalism. SEE SOME EXAMPLES HERE:

In fact with all the evidence provided here for your benefit, if you have not made use of it, and learned the game and how it’s played and you still vote for a levy, to feed this insane system that is out-of-control, then I would go so far to say that you are not only STUPID, but are in fact a DUMB ASS!

Sorry, I don’t mean to hurt your feelings. But you are. Anyone who votes to get rid of Issue 2, is also a DUMB ASS. It makes me weary to know that some of the air I have breathed into my lungs may have been exhaled from yours. It makes me weary because the same disease that has eaten your brain may enter my blood stream and infect me with the same slow-growing illness. I feel sorry for the children of these stupid people because they will also grow up and become stupid, and that is unfortunate. And when these stupid people are senior citizens, God forbid the imposition they will become on society. Can you imagine a stupid person who doesn’t even have the intelligence to care for themselves when they’ve lost their physical characteristics and muscle mass is a thing of the past? Will they just sit on a couch and hope Man-Bear-Pig will drop food in their mouths? Will they hope their children will care for them, because they won’t have the ability, because they too will be too stupid to move?

This election is about a lot more than just votes cast. It’s a measure against how stupid we have really become as a society, and the results will show us if we’ve already went beyond the point of no-return.

I know I’ve put the information out there, so I feel OK about it. But I worry as I look at some of my friends and neighbors who appear to be no different from a Zombie from some horror film, as the drool falls out of the corner of their mouth, as they say they will support a school levy. Such people are a menace to society and are ills to the future of the human race, and that in its essence is what this election in Ohio represents.

So, one last time, DON’T BE STUPID!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Vote every single school levy down. Every ONE!!!! And vote to keep Issue 2. And teachers, firefighters and police who have less than 5 years on the job, you better Vote YES on ISSUE 2. Don’t listen to your union buddies on the force. Because when the layoffs come, you’ll be the first to go. If Issue 2 holds and we can engage in merit based pay, management will be able to keep you, the young employee, and let go of that fat-ass superior of yours who is just milking the system. YEAH, you know who they are, and so do I. So for your own protection, make sure you VOTE YES on ISSUE 2. Once you get in the voting booth, those slugs will never know, so you’ll be safe. If you don’t do that and you find yourself on the unemployment line in February it can be for only one reason YOU ARE…………………………….Well, you know the rest!

DOC’S LAW in OHIO: “Boogity boogity boogity, Amen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”

(Do yourself a favor and watch every video on this article and try to do it as you read. While this post may appear to take a break from politics, it really is just a different way of looking at the situation in the face of incredible opposition. So strap in and hold on! I’m letting you into my world a bit more than usual.) Remember that song? I do! If there was one song in my life that most uttered my inner consciousness it is Sammy Hagar’s I Can’t Drive 55. That song is my life, except miraculously I never did jail time. I never had a drunk driving incident, or a terrible crash that I caused, but I had many reckless operations for burning rubber, eluding police officers, and EXCESSIVE speed. My very first ticket was 85 MPH in a 35 MPH zone. Some of my tickets were so excessive that the police mailed them to me because they couldn’t catch up. They had managed to get my license plate number but the speed was just too much to attempt to overtake from a dead stop. I have been pulled over by every vehicle the police department has, even helicopters.

Thankfully, when the speed limits finally went up to 65 here in Ohio and 70 all through the south, it gave me the needed margin to stay out of trouble and I finally stopped getting so many tickets. But I had lost my driver’s license till I was 26 years old from so many point accumulations. I had to drive illegally to bring my wife and children home from the hospital, because my license was suspended for the next 8 years!

I promised my publisher that I’d have the first edit of my new project to them by Election Day, so I was sitting at my desk listening to my buddy Doc Thompson on 700 WLW when he announced his new initiative called Doc’s Law. The manuscript I was working on involved much of my love of speed and cars in general so my mind was already geared into it, so I called up Doc to lend my support of his new, bold program. (My Part is at the 17:50 mark. But you’ll want to hear the Sean segment who is the first caller.)

People ask me often how I have so much time to write at this site, and work on these school levy fights, well, it’s because I’m in between projects at the moment. Well sort of. My new book, which I have been editing with my publisher, is due out next year, so I have a little time on my hands. I wrote the book last year before the first levy attempt at Lakota. It took about 9 months to bounce around between all the publishers and their readers, then about a month and a half of contract finalizations when one finally decided they wanted to do it. We are now in the “post production” phase of things and my time requirements will soon change. Right now we are trying to figure out what this new book is all about. Is it philosophy? Yes. Is it action-adventure? Yes. Is it a romance? Yes. Is it a political thriller? Yes. “But what do we put on the spine of the book?” I don’t know. At this post production phase all I can say at the moment is that the book is about a presidential race for the United States mixed with this video.

Don’t worry; we’ll get it worked out. These kinds of talks are a normal part of the process. But these were the kind of problems we are trying to work out on the publication end of things. As to the intensity of that video, that is a trip into my mind. So welcome!

As to speed limits, like most things, I never liked the word “LIMIT.” That is such a confining term. Limits are usually set by small-minded people with fat little fingers that can barely get their hands around their steering wheels. On the highway, I think in such a rapid fashion that 55 MPH was simply a mind numbing pace, barbaric in its mediocrity. 65 is a little better, and 70 is almost ideal. I almost always travel between 75 and 85 MPH. I think the way Doc does, my time is valuable and I want to get where I’m going. I don’t want to waste my time with some bureaucratic speed limit!

When my family recently traveled to Florida over the summer my average speed was 88 MPH. Sometimes it was 105 MPH and sometimes as low as 77 MPH. I wanted to get there. Two years ago when my wife and I took a massive motorcycle trip to Key West on our Boulevard motorcycle my average speed was 91 MPH. When we left for home we departed Orlando at 6 AM and pulled into our driveway at 9 PM with an hour and a half of dining at the Chattanooga Outback Steakhouse. Much of the time in the mountains our speed was 115 MPH. At a rest stop down in Key Largo a fellow from the seat of his over-the-road Harley Davidson asked me why I had a Suzuki and not an American made bike. I said, “Because a Harley doesn’t have a drive shaft, and these big tires. I like to drive fast.”

He looked my big bike over. “It is impressive, but you are supposed to enjoy the ride.”

“I do,” I replied to him. “I enjoy it fast.”

About a month later my wife and I left our home to participate on a motorcycle membership run since I was the Vice-President of the Suzuki Club of North America in Ohio. I met the other riders at a McDonalds just outside of Cleveland at 7 AM as we left our house at 4:30 AM. From there our little motorcycle gang rode to the Freemont Dealership close to Sandusky, Ohio across the northern part of the state. We had our membership drive there with our motorcycles on display from 10 AM till 2 PM. As rest of the motorcycle club left to go back to Cleveland my wife and I went on over to Cedar Point for the rest of the day and rode Top Thrill Dragster.

We left Cedar Point at 8 PM and were home showered and in bed by 11 PM to watch Family Guy on the Cartoon Network. The only bad part of a trip like that was always watching out for police. I don’t get to enjoy all the nice sites along the way, because I’m always scanning ahead for cops. We did 500 miles of riding that day and we did it at speeds much of the time over 100 MPH and in the blackness of night, and we still had plenty of time to spend the day in northern Ohio to have fun without being rushed around due to time constraints.

One thing you notice when you do a lot of traveling is that the speed culture changes dramatically the further north you get. I think this has something to do with the map seen on the Right-to-Work states. Have a look.

People in the south still embrace a frontier spirit of a sort. They are different from the progressive politics of the north with all those stubby fingered bureaucrats who want to control every part of our lives. You can see the tremendous difference of these two groups when you attend a NASCAR event. Upon seeing this video, it must be remembered that it was the south that first opened up the speed limit to 70 MPH. Because in the south, they love SPEED, and their smokin’ hot wives! Thank God for people like Paster Joe Nelms!

When Paster Joe said that I thought of the White House and I imagine that Obama and his wife probably had their faces melting off in horror. In fact, all the beltway types in Washington lobbying on K-Street and other places probably had the same reaction. Because culturally, we are not the same type of people, Progressives are a timid folk, and they drive SLOW! They think SLOW! They learn SLOW! And they expect the rest of us to be just as slow as they are. It’s not fair to those of us who can think fast, and drive fast to be hindered by the weak links of society!

I love the SPEEDCHANNEL! What a great American TV station. It’s not for those timid types, those people who drive 40 MPH when the speed is supposed to be 65! When I come up on such people at 110 I see the whites of their eyes in their rearview mirror. They smile in triumph, because they believe they are making the world safer! They believe just as the stupid school levy people believe that just by tossing money at a school their kids will get a good education. The same holds for the pretentious fool who blocks traffic in the speed lane. I met such a pompous lump of human excrement on I-71 south as he sat in the speed lane at 56 MPH blocked up next to a tractor-trailer. There was nowhere to pass as those two idiots stayed like that for about 15 miles. I came on him at 105 and almost had to screech my tires to a stop to avoid placing my car into his back seat. I was so angry that I had to leave the highway at Carrolton. My wife and I sat down at McDonalds, had a meal which lasted approximately 20 minutes until I could calm down. We hit the road again and I passed the guy at more than twice his speed about 20 miles outside of Louisville. That’s how slow he was going, and how much precious time of life was wasted. My wife and I had an entire meal in the time we would have wasted sitting behind that sluggish fool.

So needless to say, I am a HUGE supporter of Doc’s Law. Because if you have business in Columbus, like I often do, or Cleveland, like I do sometimes, the time spent in the car is wasted. Why should I waste moments of my life to compensate for the timid, for the unskilled? For those who are afraid of their own shadows!!!!! Why? Explain to me why my life is worth sacrificing a moment for because the timid are afraid of the speed. If Ohio were to abolish its speed limit altogether, as I hope Doc’s Law will pave the way to, I could purchase a Bugatti Veyron Supersport and be in downtown Cleveland in approximately 53 minutes from downtown Cincinnati. Now that is efficiency! I could be in Downtown Columbus and parked in the garage in less than 30 minutes. I could be in Orlando, Florida in less than 6 hours, (I’d have to stop for gas). So why can’t I do it? Because of the slow minded progressives who want to regulate everything, including the time it takes us to get from one place to another!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh, sure they sell it to us in the guise of safety like they always do. But who really wants to be safe? I see people participating in risky behavior all the time, particularly when it comes to their sex lives. Isn’t unprotected sex while on that road trip far riskier than the speed of a moving vehicle? Maybe if there weren’t any speed limits your husband would drive home from Chicago instead of waiting till the next day to fly out of O’Hara and seek the young women infected with herpes in the hotel lobby. Or the politician who slides the dirty prostitute a $20 for her to pretend his private parts are a corn dog, only for that same politician to bring home God knows what to his loving trusting wife who has bare-knuckled her perilous drive to the school soccer field to drop off the kids for practice.

I’ve been in several accidents at over 100 miles an hour. And I think that there would be fewer accidents if people drove faster because the mind works better at high speeds. Sure, the highway patrol will give you all kinds of safety statistics about death tolls. But they exaggerate things the same way they did with the Issue 2 campaign. “Issue 2 makes it ILLEGAL to negotiate for staffing sizes.” Hey, cops, yeah you guys sitting on the side of the road, if you have more than two hours to sit and do nothing but clock speeders, your department is over staffed. If there isn’t enough crime to justify you doing something else, you aren’t needed. It’s that simple. Most of the car wrecks are caused by the timid, which panic when catastrophe strikes. The speeder who thinks fast reacts better most of the time. And a wreck at 55 looks about the same as one at 100. The reason there aren’t more stats of people living in car wrecks at 100 MPH or more is because not that many people do it. Statistically most people linger along at the mind numbing pace of 65 MPH!!!!!!!!!!!! So the crash statistics are skewed to the masses of travelers who crash at less than 100 MPH.

I have news for you progressives in America. The majority of the population doesn’t want what you’re offering. My editor understood why I included the titles to certain songs in my manuscript. She told me to insert the lyrics into the action instead of naming them in the exposition. One of those songs was I Can’t Drive 55. But the one I was working on during Doc’s show on November 4, 2011 was Kickstart My Heart shown in the video at the beginning. Well here it is again but shown in a way that deep down inside every American craves, men and women alike. Believe me, I’ve been married over 20 years and raised two daughters, and I have told them what I’m telling you now. Drop the progressive crap and be what you were meant to be.

My youngest daughter who is 20 gave me some strange looks recently when we were on one of those trips to Florida and my wife and I thought she had went down to the pool, but was in fact still in the bathroom. She stayed in the there too long, about a half hour too long, let’s put it that way. As we finished up still thinking we were alone and were getting ready to head to the pool to join our kids there my wife asked me which bathing suit I wanted her to wear and I told her the American Flag bikini. So she put it on. My daughter then stepped out of the bathroom. It was an awkward moment.
“Have you been in there the whole time,” My wife asked.

“Yes!” she said trying to look upset. She looked at me as if I should feel guilty.

Instead, I asked her “What do you think of mom’s new bathing suit?”

“That is cheesy. I wouldn’t be caught dead in it.”

I looked at my wife, “See, now you know why I fight all these stupid school levies. Kids these days are learning all the wrong things.”

There is no shame in proclaiming what you like; there is only shame in being restricted by inferior minds who create social restrictions that are unnatural, processed, and terribly mundane. And the speed should not be set by the weakest of our society, but by the strongest, so that the weaker learn to be better. By catering to the handicaps of the slow-minded we do not provide ourselves any service of merit, but only collectively weaken what it is that makes America great in the first place.

So I ask you to join me in supporting Doc’s Law. It’s of epic importance and is a piece of legislation that is needed for the economic vitality of Ohio. And the only reason the police won’t get behind it is because they want a speed limit so they can use the citation revenue generated to fund the bloated public sector workers. Having a speed limit is all about having the ability to tax us in yet another way. It has NOTHING, and I mean NOTHING to do with safety.

Robert the Bruce of Issue 2: Looking for WARRIOR POETS in Ohio

When I hear Bill Cunningham anymore I can’t help but think of Robert the Bruce, the noble who left William Wallace on the battlefield in the film Braveheart. In that film Robert the Bruce made a deal with the political establishment to leave William Wallace in the middle of the battle, an act intended to defeat Wallace. Robert the Bruce, who was a wealthy land owner wasn’t ready to give everything up in an alliance with Wallace, so he took the deal and left Wallace to die. You can see here where Bill Cunningham knows he’s doing the wrong thing turning against his friend John Kasich when he speaks with Ed Schultz. Cunningham, as a wealthy lawyer himself is not ready to speak out against a system he helped build. Pay close attention to the words Cunningham speaks. It’s scripted and you will hear it again later in this post.

While Cunningham and Schultz were talking on MSNBC an epic debate was underway in Ohio between, Sen. Keith Faber and former Ohio Congressman Dennis Eckart over Issue 2. Faber without question won the debate. He answered every question thoroughly, and as completely as possible. Eckart used the position of the unions which is all emotion to answer virtually every question. You can see the complete debate for yourself here. It’s interesting that Eckert used exactly the same metaphor regarding the mother-in-law as Cunningham did. That means that both men are reading the talking points created by the union interests that runs deep in our culture, and is responsible for much of the corruption that goes on in politics. Remove the union influence, and aspects of government that are corrupt would be greatly illustrated. The unions are spending upwards of $60 million dollars on manipulating the citizens of Ohio into a moment of self-doubt, to preserve their empire.

This morning an employee came up to me and said, “You’re for Issue 2, right?”

“Yes,” I said. “I’m a tremendous supporter of Issue 2.”

“Well, I think it’s just terrible. They want to take away our collective bargaining rights.”

I said to them, “Nobody has a right to collective bargaining. What makes you think it’s a right?”

“It’s in the constitution!” They were very angry when they said this.

I took a breath. “No, it’s not in any constitution either federal, or state wide. Collective bargaining for public employees was created by corrupt, progressive politicians to ‘purchase’ voting blocks for themselves. It has nothing to do with actual rights. FDR started this discussion and Kennedy finished it off as a favor to the mobs in 1962 with Executive Order 10988. That’s when public unions were allowed to form and it was a mistake. Unions have NO natural rights to anything I have. They do not have a right to collectively bargain for the tax money I toss in the pot to spend on our government services.”

“But they pay taxes too!” They said.

“Yes, but the difference is for the public employee, they pass the hat around, they all contribute and at the end, they divide up among themselves what they put in, because their wages come out of the hat. I put money in the hat and it never comes back to me. I don’t get money back out of the hat. It goes around, I contribute, and I get back an employee for public service, and I have a limit on what I’m willing to pay for those services. Collective bargaining in my opinion should have been abolished in Issue 2, along with the idea that public employees should be in a union. It doesn’t go far enough in my opinion! I see Issue 2 as a very fair reform that is ESSENTIAL to the future of Ohio.”

Silence…………………………………….

Here’s the deal, Governor Kasich did balance his budget which was $8 billion in the hole at the start of 2011. Issue 2 will not affect his budget. But Kasich turned off the bleeding money that came out of Columbus so there isn’t any money to lobby from the State. That means that the money for all school districts and community services will have to come from higher taxes in those regions. So as the unions are looking to loot state and federal money to cover their budget needs, that money is gone, leaving it to the communities to cover the difference. Now I support the move by Kasich, because all that state money is also my money, and I like to see that he’s getting his hands around it. And it’s a lot easier for me to help cover costs in my local community away from the union lobby in Columbus, so I have no problem with what Kasich has done. But without Issue 2 as a tool, tax increases will be an epic demand right out of the gate in 2012 and the money isn’t there. So all these people protesting against it, like Cunningham and Eckert political progressives in function, the money isn’t there to satisfy the “fairness” they are looking for.

The unions claim they have “given back” a billion dollars. Well, it wasn’t enough because the budget demands have not went away. So maybe they need to give back another billion dollars in order to balance our community budgets. And if they don’t want to do that, then find another job. It’s a choice. But under their definition of “giveback” it is equivalent to a ship of pirates considering on whether or not to plunder a town. If the value of a town is $1 billion dollars and the pirates decide not to attack the town, this is how the unions define a “give back.”

I can’t think of a single reason to vote no on Issue 2. I wish it was more aggressive, but as it is, I think it’s fair from the perspective of society. It took a lot of courage to vote for Issue 2, the question is, do you have the courage to keep it? The unions are betting that you don’t, because they are spending millions and millions and millions of dollars on making you feel afraid, and to vote with those fears in mind on November 8th 2011. So do you have the courage to keep it, because as of now, you have it Ohio? This is an issue you cannot leave to other people; you must show up and protect it with your vote. Because the unions will all be there to protect the status quo and ability to take our money without regulation. All you have to do to stop that kind of looting is VOTE YES on ISSUE 2, and have a little backbone in the silent isolation of the voting booth.

Indicted West Chester Police Officer made $70,032.20: Yet the apologists think that’s not enough

The West Chester Police did a good thing and that’s act quickly on an internal investigation of one of their own. The nine-year veteran 37-year-old David Busemeyer was investigated and indicted by a grand jury of three felony charges, obstruction of official business, obstruction of justice and attempted tampering with evidence. Busemeyer is of course innocent until proven guilty, but this entire internal investigation is a reminder that public servants are not perfect. And I don’t expect them to be. What I expect is for West Chester to do exactly as it did, and that is bring about justice even when it involves their own.

However, in light of Issue 2, where the rhetoric has been turned up, and those pandering types use public servants to prop up their own political positions, I keep hearing that public servants do not make very much money, that police start at 35K a year, and that firefighters make 55K per year, and that teachers are not getting rich off their jobs. Well, I’ve shown at this site that teachers at Lakota make an average of $63K per year and are doing very well relative to the rest of the community. The police and firefighters in my community are also doing quite well, which I wasn’t aware of till the last levy was approved. After the approval of that levy I started looking at the numbers which resulted in the below spreadsheet.

Because this officer had been named and indicted by a grand jury, I was curious how much this particular police officer made, because according to Bill Cunningham and many others who are supporters of collective bargaining and union labor, these guys don’t make very much money. So I took a look at the spreadsheet below and sure enough, David Busemeyer is on there. At only 37 years old and nine years on the force he is making $70,032.20 as of 2010 numbers, since I received that information during the winter of 2011.

That’s not bad money. In fact, that’s quite a bit more than the average tax payer, even in West Chester. Have a look at my list.

The trouble with “collective begging” which is the union term that Cunningham has adopted to refer to the “collective bargaining” reform bill of Issue 2 is that “collective bargaining” is not practical, is expensive, and allows employees who can’t achieve large wage levels under their own merit to make excellent wages under that system. Using West Chester purely as an example since it’s my community it’s not a big deal if David Busemeyer makes $70,032.20 if there was some sort of evaluation procedure that delivered him that type of wage. Maybe he does a lot of high risk work, or maybe he can speak in several languages and act as a translator for illegal immigration busts. But under collective bargaining, EVERYONE makes that kind of money. All a public employee has to do is show up for work, do what they are told within the union rules, and keep their nose clean, somewhat, and they will receive an automatic increase based on their collective bargaining contract. And instead of one employee making great money, you have hundreds making that kind of money and every bit of it must come from the tax payer.

Cunningham’s comments are the same as the typical politician. He’s pandering to the masses, which is no different from when Barry Obama does it, or Jessie Jackson, or Bill Clinton. Cunningham knows that many of his listeners during the day are public servants. Cops have on 700 WLW in their cars as they sit on the side of the road watching for speeders. Teachers have it on in the teacher’s lounge, and firefighters having it on in the firehouses. Cunningham seems to have always cared more for pandering than the actual truth which used to make me mad, but like one of my readers told me the other day, Willie Springer has no credibility. He lost that a long time ago. It’s important to know that Willie is a brand name to a creation. He is a lawyer. He has a restaurant in West Chester where many teachers, PTA members, and coaches of sports teams for Lakota attend, so there is profit in pandering. That seems to be why he supports a levy in my district even though he doesn’t live there. He’ll pay the extra tax for his business because the school pandering will fill the seats at his sports bar. I often assumed that what he said he believed, because I would, but he’s no different from an actor in a movie or on a TV show. He’s a radio personality who has attached his role as a lawyer to the public sector worker as his listeners, the “voice of the common man” even though he is wearing a Mercedes shirt, which tells much of the story in itself. It’s a cute gig until he starts taking official positions, where he comes out sounding as foolish as Sean Penn or some other radicle actor.

I hired Willie about 15 years ago to be my spokesman for a line of T-shirts I was producing to help get out a message I had which stated, “TAKE AN AX TO OUR TAX.” We were making the shirts at cost during the 1996 election season to bring high taxes to people’s attention. Rob Portman actually bought one from me, and I took one down to city hall and gave it to Roxanne Quals, the mayor of Cincinnati at the time. Willie was hired to do our commercial which we ran on 700 WLW.

I was set to go on with Bill Cunningham during his 9 PM show on a summer Friday night. As I was headed to the station Cunningham had on a segment where he had strippers on doing a live strip show while Cunningham did play-by-play commentary. My wife told me, “This is the guy you’ve hired to be your spokesman?”

I said, “No, he’s a conservative. Willie is just doing this for ratings.”

My wife said, “And you’re going to go on behind this?”

I shrugged my shoulders.

“Doesn’t this compromise your message?” My wife said. “You hate Howard Stern because he has no ethics. You hate Jerry Springer because he’ll do anything for money. How is this guy any different? And you’re going to go on his show and let him pretend he’s a conservative. You’re going to acknowledge his existence? You’re going to even give him the time of day?”

I knew she was right, so we turned around and went home. I called his producer and told him that I wasn’t going to go on behind a room full of strippers. So Cunningham kept the girls in the studio till midnight, and they had a grand old-time laughing and carrying on. And from that day on, I knew that Cunningham the personality was not the same as Cunningham the man, which was very disappointing, because I wanted to believe in him.

In the video above, Cunningham has fantasies that his words actually carry weight, and there is a certain percentage of the population out there who would listen to advice from Jerry Springer, Howard Stern, or Bill Cunningham. Those types of personalities try to be everything to everybody, and actually believe in nothing. But then again, most lawyers are that way. They’ll believe whatever you tell them to, so long as the money is green.

However, this business of Issue 2 is serious, and people like Cunningham just muddy up the water with the revelation that he has always been a Democrat, and was only a conservative for the benefit of his show. They take advantage of the ignorance of the masses who are too busy with their lives to look into anything for themselves. Yet the spreadsheet above shows what the union supporters don’t want you to know, and that is “collective bargaining” has allowed too many people to make too much money. Getting pay increases in large groups is a concept that could only work in government. In the private sector it puts companies out of business. In government it causes tax increases.

Apologists attempt to pander to everyone so they hope to divert our attention to the corruption of the federal government and the war in Afghanistan which is terribly expensive, rather than what’s going on in our communities. All they are doing is trying to divert attention from the immediate problems. I can’t do much about those federal issues, but I can in my backyard. And getting these public employee costs under control is my obligation to my community, not to get side-tracked on some diatribe by a radio/television personality. People like that are no different from politicians who will do anything or say anything for a vote.

In the end, whatever happens to Issue 2, the collective bargaining system will collapse on itself. If the unions get their way, they will be solely responsible for the catastrophe that follows. School levies won’t go away, and neither will police and fire levies they’ll keep asking for money to satisfy their collective bargaining contracts while the rest of us suffer through stagnate wages that have topped out. Issue 2 isn’t about fairness, it’s about survival, and those that are trying to get rid of it are no different from those soccer players who crashed in the Andes mountains portrayed in the movie ALIVE.

They ate their dead…………………and became cannibals.

I wonder what that officer really did to have the investigation actually bring about an indictment. My question was why did that officer make so much money? What was the evaluation process? How many times was his life in danger the previous year? What does he do from the start of his shift to the end? The answer is we don’t know, because collective bargaining gives pay increases to all employees equally, so the evaluations done are just customary, since they have very little meaning to actual wages. And that probably had something to do with why this officer wasn’t detected as a potential problem by his management, until something bad happened. And that system will continue because people like Bill Cunningham are willing to give people like this a blank check of entitlement, which empowers these groups of public workers to believe they are far more important, and valuable than they actually are.

WE ARE BROKE: Senator Jones speaks about Issue 2 on 55 KRC

Shannon Jones was on recently with Brian Thomas of 55 KRC to speak about the benefits of Issue 2. One of the important parts of the conversation centered on the typical contract of most workers where the previous contract serves as the baseline for the next one, this practice has served to unrealistically drive up costs which in many cases far exceed the CPI index of the average tax payer. Most public workers don’t concern themselves with such measures because they are conditioned by government to act as baby birds and wait for mother government to drop food into their mouths if they chirp incessantly which has become their irritating mode of operation.

Brian and Shannon have a wonderful conversation about this very important bill. Be sure to listen to the entire broadcast especially the callers after the interview.

As I was sitting down for dinner with my wife, there was a knock on the door. The dogs were going nuts as they peered through the windows at a person they did not recognize. So I went out to meet the guy through the garage to avoid trying to talk while holding back the dogs.

“Hi!” the man said enthusiastically. “I wanted to talk to you about Issue 2.”

I smiled as he handed me the literature which was in favor of the repeal attempt. My wife had come out behind me and grabbed her forehead when she heard that a spokesman from the “other side” was in our driveway. “You came to the wrong house” she said.

The man’s smile disappeared as he studied our faces. “Why’s that?”

My wife gently pointed at me, “that’s Rich Hoffman.”

“Crap………..Well, you never know who’s door you’re going to knock on.”

I put my arm around the guy and said, “Dude, it’s alright. We’re definitely on opposite sides of this situation, but we can still get along…..even if you’re wrong.”

The man was holding out the literature for the repeal attempt, which I took. “Thanks,” I said, “I was wondering what you guys were handing out to people.”

The man smiled slightly and shook my hand. “Well, thanks for your time, and have a good day.”

“You too,” I said as the man turned and headed back to his car. I could feel my wife burning a hole in my back with her gaze.“What? I was nice.”

“Suspiciously nice,” she said. “What are you up to?”

I feigned surprise. “Now what makes you think I’m up to something?”

“Because I’ve been married to you for over 20 years.”

I held up the literature from We Are Ohio. “Because it’s nice to have the other side bring you information and place it on your doorstep. It saves me some research time. I’m grateful to the fellow, as time is a precious commodity.”

My wife and I finished our dinner with a hearty laugh at the literature and how terribly misleading it was. The emotional appeals that school levies and labor unions employ to their cause are traditionally pathetic and this literature was no different.

• Issue 2 strips away important Collective Bargaining Rights. This was hilarious since there isn’t anything anywhere which states that collective bargaining is a “right.” It is a privilege that has been abused. Click on this article to see how.

• Issue 2 Endangers us All. This is another one that brings about laughter. It’s the old “panic” trick which schools use to trick people into more tax money spent. “You’ll be safer if you pay us more money.” This behavior actually equates to mob type extortion, because the only real danger comes from the public employees themselves, because if they walk off the job, homes could burn down, criminals might roam with impunity, and kids would be in a classroom that has no teacher because they are on strike. The only danger is that if Issue 2, the public employees in a fit might retaliate by laying down on the job. It’s even documented that some public employees have actually burned down the homes of their tax opponents in the past or encouraged violence in other “indirect” ways.

• Issue 2 Hurts our Economy. This comes from people who most probably have difficulty balancing their check book if they didn’t have a 43.4% wage and benefit advantage over the private sector. They are people who have little knowledge of production, but are simply service oriented employees who think they know the miracle of money and production. It is these types of individuals who think that “job creation” is done by government and not the wealthy.

• Issue 2 is an Unfair Political Giveaway. Here comes the classic class warfare ploy. It’s “us (the worker) against them (the management).” In the minds of the radicalized public worker “management” is always against them and they treat negotiations like a football game, where you gain yards against the defense which is management. It doesn’t matter who is on management’s side, they are all villains to the radicalized union member, and this especially true of public workers represented by a union.

We finished our dinner with our stomachs sore from the laughter and again contemplated the public employees who have grown over time to become entitled, to expect everything in their lives to move forward, but to never give anything up. Their idea of giving back to the community is to take wage freezes and giving back personal days, which many in the private sector don’t get and never will. Giving back things you have not yet received is not giving back. But to the public employee, it is! As a group the public employee is desperately out of touch and they have no plan on what to do with the day after the election if they succeed in a repeal attempt. Their plan is to raise taxes to deal with the budget deficits, and that’s why we laughed so hard over our dinner. The idea of just how out-of-touch these people are is something that might be unbelievable on a stand-up comedy act. Yet, with a straight face, they hand out literature and protest with silly signs in the back of pickup truck to “repeal Issue 2, so we can keep everything the same for us, the public employee.” But they have no plan other than taxing the rich. Their argument is one of shallow water in a jagged stream filled with a dye that discolors the water which they applied so that nobody can see just how shallow their water is, and what they hide just under the surface. The answers to most of the reasons we need Issue 2 is articulated in the Brian Thomas, Shannon Jones interview. But also, all the reasons we should vote for Issue 2 also comes from the literature of We Are Ohio. Upon examination it is clear there is no helping these people since their perspective is tinted with extremely high expectations. And only time will heal them while we must help them put their feet upon the ground of reality once again after decades of neglect and pay-offs.
In the meantime all we can do is laugh and vote YES for Issue 2 on November 8, 2011.

The Next Civil War: Unions versus Right to Work is happening now!

I recently did an article about Issue 2 where I compared the details of that very good bill to the aerospace company Boeing, building its new manufacturing plant in South Carolina. To see that article click the link:

Issue 2 is not about firefighter safety, or police ability to do their jobs. It’s not about teachers instructing our children. Issue 2 for Ohio is about keeping jobs in the state because to the south, the Right to Work States is soaking up all the manufacturing jobs. For the unions, repealing Issue 2 is about keeping control of the states that aren’t yet Right to Work states. As you can see by observing the map below, the states in Blue are Right to Work states, with South Carolina being part of the southern culture of maintaining independence from organized labor efforts.

We are in the midst of a Civil War of a different kind, where the goal of the war is the unions struggling to maintain their power base. They fear that more companies will do as Boeing is doing, and that’s locating their business in the southern states, so that those companies do not have to worry about radicalized labor practices.

Unions in the private sector share much with the public sector but as with the circumstances around Boeing, there is nowhere to hide from a public sector union. They embed themselves in our communities and force tax increases upon demand. There is no competitive edge in public unions and we cannot escape by moving the enterprise to another country. Unions in the public sector are unconscionable in that they force employees to take part in them whether or not the employee wishes to, and the public is forced to support them with increased taxes without choice in service. In Ohio by law if a teacher wants to teach, they must join a union. Does that seem right? Why should any public employee be required to join a union as a condition of employment? The fight over Issue 2 is the radicalized portions of these public unions who are hiding their true intentions behind their members, who simply want to be employed. The union leaders are seeking to control the spread of Right to Work States and if Issue 2 holds, Ohio will go a long way to moving in that direction. This leaves the militants desperate to act.

All the history shown in that video is true. The map tells the whole story. In the north where militant unions took control, they have embedded themselves in our political process and driven up taxes. That video shows how we have arrived to this point in time involving Issue 2. Notice that the bill talked about in 1981 never had any impact, because the union lobby prevented the reforms, just as they are doing with Issue 2. Ohio cannot begin to attract business to Ohio if the public unions are bankrupting our communities. And militant union behavior is not something large companies want to be a part of. They would much prefer to establish themselves in the south where the people there enjoy their independence. And if operating in the south is too expensive, then the companies will just take their operations to another country completely, leaving the union thugs of the north jobless and desperate, seeking a government job so they can have a safe-haven for their beliefs, because unions have destroyed virtually every industry they’ve penetrated. It would seem only the entertainment unions have been able to survive because the public has been willing to support the increases in ticket costs to support those inflated expectations.

I can see belonging to a public union as an option, but I cannot see being told that I was under legal obligation to join one. I have no tolerance for the militant behavior that comes from public unions, the over exaggerations they employee to manipulate the public. Every time I hear cops proclaim that they are willing to take a bullet to keep me safe I shudder in anger. I would happily become deputized by my local Sheriff and run into a building under gunfire. Heck, I might even pay to do it, because danger of this kind is a privilege to a man. I wouldn’t think of charging for such a thing, because the danger is the payment! Or to the firefighter, let me become a volunteer and I would gladly run into a burning building to save a gold-fish, not to mention a human being. And I’d do it for the thrill of feeling the heat and smelling the smoke. And I’d do it without expecting a dime because I might save a life and bring ease to someone’s mind who is my neighbor.

It can be noticed that much of this union trouble comes from these northern states, because in the south, they won’t put up with it. In the south they have a strong tendency toward self-reliance, and tend to look down their noses at organized labor. And this is why they are experiencing economic growth in the south. They do have their share of public unions, but the people who live in those states seem to much less tolerant of the kind of extortion they employee upon the public. You don’t see protests like we’ve seen in Wisconsin and Ohio in places like Nashville and Dallas, or even Charleston.

Ohio is trying to compete with the south for future business. Issue 2 is not about hurting public workers, as they’d have you believe. They are a group that is in denial, and they believe their union leaders who think that they can hold these unions together when economic circumstances are pulling them apart. The unions are failing because they allow for a level of selfishness that can only be supplemented with militant behavior.

The firefighters and police of today who are running the face of a repeal attempt of Issue 2 have changed their militant behavior from what was seen in the video above, where firefighters took illegal strikes and actually started fires burning down homes and businesses, then preventing citizens from trying to put those fires out. In fact, at a recent debate over Issue 2 a labor attorney Steve Lazarus informed us that the reason for the collective bargaining law of 1982, which Issue 2 seeks to reform, is because police went on strike in militant behavior similar to the firefighters. The claim was that too many officers were being killed or injured, but my feeling is that officers were using the deaths of their union brothers to drive up wages for themselves by declaring unsafe working conditions which no witless politician had an answer to. So the politicians did what they do, they threw laws and money at the squeaky wheels of the labor unions.

The militant behavior of the modern age is not much different. The public unions are threatening the violence of the past if they don’t get their way. When they gather, there is a pretense of violence in their behavior. Their collective mass is meant to threaten us. They are using the threat of “safety” or the lack of it to pave the way for behavior yet undefined. They leave it to the imagination of their targeted ads. They implication is clear.

What they are all in denial over is that if the private sector has lost their jobs to foreign manufactures, because the labor costs are much lower in places like China, India or Brazil, and when companies like Boeing needing a stable work force knowing that they can’t get it in Washington because of union radicalism Boeing is attempting to move to a southern Right to Work state, and now find themselves in trouble with the Federal Government because of it. There is no quick remedy to solve this debacle. The unions and their radicalism have brought this situation upon themselves. The private sector is making 43.4% less now than the public sector because the private sector has to make financial adjustments competitive to the world marketplace. The public unions don’t want to change and they certainly don’t want to see what they’ve done to community budgets, and they are threatening various forms of militant behavior if they don’t get it. The union militants want higher taxes to fund their uncompetitive wage demands no matter what the cost to society. For the unions the battle is about the map shown on this article. The unions want to remove the blue from those states that have Right to Work options for their workers, because union leadership is out for political conquest. Meanwhile states like Ohio are pushing back, so that they can be just as competitive as the southern states and the unions are set to do anything to prevent that from happening.

That leaves the fate of Ohio in the hands of you, the voter. Are you going to cave in to the union militants who will drive up your taxes and reduce the number of public employees you can have, because the current budgets cannot support the number of employees we currently carry, because wages in the private sector are not what they used to be? And there are not enough wealthy people to loot in order to rescue these despots from their own greed which creates a chain reaction of failure of which they are solely responsible for. Ohio is trying to fix this discrepancy in Ohio with Issue 2, which among many reforms; the most powerful one is in returning the “option” of belonging to a union to the employee. If you do not support Issue 2 by voting YES you will be responsible for what follows, because Issue 2 was created to fix the problems coming on multiple fronts, and becoming more competitive on the map between states that are Right to Work and those that aren’t.

Issue 2 in Ohio Could Save Your Community: Where did the jobs go?????????

Brian Thomas of 55 KRC had a fabulous segment on Wednesday, October 5th, 2011 covering Issue 2 in Ohio which is the collective bargaining reform law. As I heard this broadcast I couldn’t help but think of a debate I attended just a few days prior where the firefighter union had shown up to complain about the law. Anyone who reads me regularly knows that I have now designated those who work for public sector unions as being members of the “spoiled class.” The spoiled class believes that they are entitled to certain wages and benefits no matter what the cost to those who provide the money to fuel those benefits. They know of no end to that money supply and believe that they should be the first to get it upon their necessity. (As you heard Jeff Birding state, the firefighter suggested raising taxes to balance their budget.) This is an insidious concept and I blame the rhetoric of the labor unions for it. The unions have spent many year programming their members with a political agenda rooted in far left progressivism, to a point that even people who think they are conservatives, find that they are tools of this progressive agenda.

I didn’t know how bad it was till the Issue 2 debate that I mentioned where a member of the Middletown City Council pleaded to Senator Coley that jobs needed to be brought to Ohio, as if Coley could somehow reach into a magic bag and produce them from thin air. This man truly believed that such a statement was possible, and as I heard him speak I felt profound pity for the man. He seemed like a nice guy, certainly well-intentioned, but he did not understand where all the jobs in his city had gone.

High tax rates drive away business, and this nonsense of attacking Wall Street that is all the rage of the spoiled class these days, to solve many of the problems of the public unions and their demands of inflated wages is baffling. It’s like trying to cut the heart out of your body to lose weight, it makes about as much sense. The union advocates remind me of the typical suburban housewife who buy hamburger meat at the grocery store, and has become completely disconnected with the idea that once that meat they are buying was a living breathing thing, that was killed for her consumption. They have lost touch with the nature of their food because when they get it, it comes all wrapped up in a nice package. The same has occurred with the modern union worker. They know or care nothing where their wages come from. They only care that they get those wages. The unions are disconnected with the origin of money.

To understand this situation clearly and how close the alliance between big government and organized labor has become, one only has to examine the situation with Boeing, a large aerospace employer known best for their large manufacturing facilities in Washington, Oregon, and Kansas. Boeing is a private company, not a public one, but even here, the government has stuck its nose into the situation of regulating the way Boeing does business in favor of organized labor. Boeing has suffered some difficult work stoppages over the last decade with one of the most costly being a 58-day strike in 2008. So when Boeing needed to build a new plant for their new 787 craft, they elected to build it in South Carolina, a “right-to-work” state, which means the union would not be have an unfair negotiating advantage over Boeing to halt customer commitments of the 787 craft. Boeing knew that if they attempted to build the 787 in one of their existing manufacturing plants with a new building, they would suffer the same labor fates as they had in the past from devastating strikes, particularly District 751 Machinists Union.

Taking it upon themselves The National Labor Relations Board filed a law suit against Boeing for the move, District 751 spokesman Connie Kelliher that Boeing’s move “proves what we’ve suspected all along – that Boeing moved to Charleston to punish its members for exercising their union’s rights.” The Federal government on behalf of this union is suing one of the largest employers in the United States for wanting to build a manufacturing plant in a right-to-work state, and all parties involved, except for Boeing think this is acceptable!

I don’t blame Boeing at all for not wanting to put up with a radical work force, and I find it appalling that the government is stepping in where it has no business, but the same thing happens in our communities each time a teachers union decides to strike, a federal mediator comes in to negotiate, and what happens is our elected officials quickly get out-witted by the outside pressure and the unions win with public money we must then supply as tax payers. The situation is that ridiculous. And yes the spoiled class is that out-of-touch.

This is a serious problem as America must compete on a world stage where our competition will work for cents on a day, and they’ll work 10 to 15 hours because they are happy to have a job. Employees in India, China, and Indonesia and very industrious, and will stop at nothing when given a task, and they are typically happy to have a job, because many of the people they know don’t have one. I don’t blame large companies who move to these countries to avoid the pain-in-the neck of American Labor employed by the spoiled class. (THESE PEOPLE BELIEVE THE JOB EXISTS FOR THEIR BENEFIT!!) The companies would like to stay in America, but who wants to put up with radicals? Everyone wants to make money. Everyone wants to produce. But nobody wants to deal with economic terrorists, and that is what the spoiled class uses to get their way.

The spoiled class is an unfortunate burden. They have squandered away a lifetime of education to arrive as adults with the need to be educated again because they point at empty buildings and they contemplate, “Where did the jobs go that was in those buildings. Please, bring them back.” Therefore a discussion with them isn’t even possible and negotiating with them is even worse, because for negotiations to take place, the value of something must be determined and understood. And the spoiled class does not understand value, so they are ill-equipped to discuss anything about value, yet they hold equal ability to vote and be represented by tax money. This is a debacle that is epic, and permeates the very foundation of our entire country. This illness of the spoiled class must be dealt with before any advancement of our society can take place. Because when a company as valuable to America as Boeing cannot even build a manufacturing plant in a state without union labor, any discussion about education reform, medical advancement, or any public service cannot be explored. And this is something which should be of great concern to everyone.

In the end it will be the unions who look at the empty buildings and wonder why there isn’t any money and struggle to get their minds around the fact that those buildings are empty because they drove away the occupants, and all that will shine upon those monuments to industry is a setting-sun shining once more a faint flicker of light before dropping below the horizon leaving American and its unions in darkness, hungry, confused, and disillusioned fighting over the scraps that are left.

Thank the “Spoiled Class” for those empty buildings, and the job that was once there, but has fled our shores in search for freedom and the right to thrive and grow.

The “Education Bubble”: The enemy gathers outside of it

For those who believe that all is right in the world, the video below is something you should see. I recently had a debate on 700 WLW with Julie Shaffer over school levies and how much she believes people outside the “education bubble” make as a wage, which far off the true mark and goes far to explain why educators are out-of-touch in asking the public to increase taxes to maintain their lifestyles even when the CPI index says those same teachers are extremely overpaid. It is that same “education bubble” of academia where they view the world with rose-colored lenses darkened even more with tenure that they cannot, or will not see that in their typically leftist viewpoint of global unity and focus on “world peace” that our enemies stir. While the teachers inside this bubble teach our youth pacifism, our youth are becoming less inclined to identify evil for what it is. In fact, many of our adults have the same difficulty, as we have all been educated in the same places. It is not the fault of public education so much as it is the fault of those within the “education bubble” to allow themselves to be seduced by the messages of peace that were created by socialist sympathizers early in American history, and should be viewed no differently than when the farmer takes his flock of cattle to the slaughter-house, petting his animals as he leads them to their deaths. The farmer will drive away from the slaughter-house with money in his pocket, but his cows will leave in pieces, their necks slit and drained of the life. Those in the “education bubble” are like the farmer. They don’t intend harm to their flocks, but they do crave that safety from within academia where they chose to reside, and will at great effort labor to stay there and turn their eyes away from what goes on outside that bubble, even if it means selling away their cattle for money.

I would place the blame on why Americans do not seem able to identify this Middle-Eastern threat on the shoulders of academia, because in their methods of self-preservation, they have allowed the arrogance of an enemy to grow to dangerous proportions. They have lulled society to sleep with empty promises and a pursuit of material wealth accompanied by a healthy dose of altruism, all designed to dissect sectors of modern society from their strongholds of belief.

The academic will scoff at my utterances and those of Glenn Beck because they don’t want to believe in those threats. They do not want to consider that the foundations of their beliefs are but blinders to a menace so magnificent that it threatens to erase any progress mankind has made and cast it back to tents in a desert valley, erasing from the minds of all any trace of skyscrapers, Wall Street trading, or even automobiles. For the rage that dwells within the predators of man care for nothing of invention, peace, love, charity, or reaching for the stars. Their hungry eyes are on the fresh meat within that education bubble which they would consume without reverence or mercy.

And they plot like sinister manipulators, walking among us like the wolf in sheep’s clothing, climbing under the fence to get behind that bubble to eat. Meanwhile the academic looks at the predator and says, “look there at the poor, the downtrodden, the oppressed and offer them your hand, your help, your charity! I say to you my young students to beckon your wealth in their direction, to assist them for they are our brothers and sisters of this world, and deem our respect and understanding.” In this way the teacher leads the students straight into the mouth of the predator to be consumed uneventfully.

The media personality is another type of academic within the “education bubble” who looks everywhere but at the predator in hopes to maintain their fantasy of peace. As they prepare their news stories to met the most recent deadline, and news of a predator in their midst proves unmistakable they utter to themselves, “If only I could take such violent minds to the streets of France to dine within sight of the Eiffel Tower and later that night make love on a veranda overlooking the city at night, then these predators would not want to cut the head off the innocent. If only I could save them from themselves then I would be a type of hero who offered myself to save their lives.” Shortly thereafter, the disillusioned media personality will bury their faces into their hands when they realize too late that it was they who left the gate open to the predators to slaughter their friends behind the “education bubble.”

The enemy is now everywhere and our eyes are no longer trained to see them, because the “education bubble” has failed us. They are in our government, they wear suits, and look like everyone else, and they study everything we do. The enemy is so diverse these days that the enemy doesn’t even know it’s the enemy. They believe they are social servants. Thus, the training provided from within the “education bubble.”

As teachers and other public servants chant at the statehouses all over the nation to protect their “collective bargaining” rights, and their view of the world that was built within the “education bubble” they do not see that the fight they are engaged in is one of manipulation. They were taught to provide a military type distraction in two ways, first to bankrupt our financial structure and deplete our manufacturing base; second they are to draw attention away from the real predators as they maneuver into position to attack. Within the “education bubble” we are taught to think in terms of quarters and semesters. The enemy is taught to think in decades and generations.

So as the teachers and sympathizers of the “education bubble” continue to beat a drum of distraction to preserve their right to shop at Nordstrom’s, an enemy gathers outside of their vision. And as people like me point and say, “there is your end,” they gallantly shrug off the warning.

“Oh, that Mr. Hoffman just hates teachers and so anti-education. You can’t believe anything he says, because he chooses not to join us in the “education bubble.”

And they wonder why I wish to pop that bubble so that they can finally see………………………………

ISSUE 2 IS WONDERFUL: The gap is closing as good people come to their senses

The gap is closing on the controversial Issue 2 law which brings much-needed reform to the collective bargaining process in Ohio. Issue 2 was central to almost every conversation I had with the media on Tuesday, September 27, 2011 which was heavier than usual as the school levy campaigns have begun to take off.

The Cincinnati Enquirer did a tremendous piece on the front page of its paper which explored the reason behind the rash of tax resistant school board candidates running for positions all over Cincinnati. Michael Clark had interviewed me for that article weeks ago and had put a lot of work into gathering the scope of personalities in the article. Doc Thompson and I had one of our all-encompassing education discussions on 700 WLW the day The Enquirer article came out and much of the conversation centered on the new Quinnipiac University poll done with registered Ohio voters which also came out that very morning as a separate news story. It revealed that the people who favored repealing Issue 2 still had the majority at 51%, but showed that 38% strongly favored keeping it, leaving 13% of the voters still up in the air. In July, the numbers were 56% wanting repeal and only 32% wanting to keep it. This corresponds with what many of us who know what Issue 2 is all about and that’s when people learn how good Issue 2 is, they will want it. Issue 2 was forged out of frustration from the many failed school levies in pursuit of a long-term solution. Those tax resistance advocates of which I’m a part helped our elected representatives understand what we wanted them to do in order to solve the problems with school districts having virtually no influence over their budgets, because of the collective bargaining agreements that involve federal mediators and a very powerful union lobby, works aggressively against the taxpayers.

I have known all along that once the good people of Ohio understood that Issue 2 was greatly to their advantage, they’d begin to change their mind, which is what’s happening. Listen to the discussion with Doc and me by clicking the video below.

The public unions are losing ground because they have nothing new to say. They have no solutions to the problems they created, and virtually everything they gained over a 30 year period, they gained with violence, protests, and strikes. They collectively bullied their way into a situation where they now have wages and benefits that are 43.4% higher than the rest of us who pay their salaries in the private sector. CLICK THIS HOT LINK FOR MORE DETAIL. Over the next month, the unions will lose much more ground, because the facts in their behalf are not pretty. They are caught in their own misleading statistics. People have not forgotten what they’ve done even now that the public unions are pretending to be treated unfairly. It is the police and firefighters unions who have put themselves in front of the much more guilty teachers unions to attempt once again to push the emotional hot button hoping to keep support for repeal above 50%. But even the police unions are guilty of their share of violent intimidation of public officials, which over time has created great wages, overtime pay without any management control, and incredible abuses and double-dipping of the wages provided. Case in point is this outburst by the President of the Cincinnati FOP lashing out at Cincinnati City Council over just a PowerPoint presentation. The intent of this outbreak is to intimidate city council by preventing any discussion of cost management. This broadcast was done in December of 2010 a whole month before John Kasich took office. It is because of situations like this that many of us in the anti-tax groups all over Southern Ohio sat down with Shannon Jones, Bill Coley, Pete Beck, and Senator Cates to give us tools to help manage our costs. For me personally, after just defeating the recent Lakota Levy and needing a long-term fix to the situation it was this broadcast that convinced me something like Issue 2 was essential to a long-term fix on these public sector costs which were spiraling out-of-control. Shortly after my talk with Doc Thompson I met with Tiffany Teasley of Fox 19 for an interview about the new Lakota Levy. I told Tiffany exactly what the Yes Lakota people would say hours before she even had the opportunity to interview them. “They’ll say that they need this levy passed so Lakota can move FORWARD. Without the money they’ll fall backwards. Yet they can’t explain to anybody why. They just ask for money to be tossed into a bottomless pit as if by burning the money, education will move forward.” I knew what would be said because it’s the same tired public union rhetoric that has been used and proven false for decades. The assumption by public unions is that taxes can always be increased to fund excessively high expectations.

Off camera, Tiffany asked me, “So how do you view your role in this levy, this time around? I remember last time they (Pro Levy Lakota) accused the No Lakota People of just saying “no,” and not offering any solutions,” Tiffany asked.

“Issue 2 is the kind of solution I had in mind, and once the election was over, I started talking to elected representatives about creating legislation that would fix the problem. That was the start of Senate Bill 5, which would become Issue 2. I was not alone in this as many others did the same thing contacting their representatives and demanding something be done. It was not created by some evil Republican conspiracy in some oppressive mountain of doom, where busting unions was the goal. It was started by people like me who asked our elected officials to provide relief from the incessant tax requests by cost overruns in the public sector. Kasich is simply doing what people like me asked him to. Shannon Jones wrote the bill listening to her constituents, who are simply sick of politics as usual and want an end to it. I know it because I know most of the people who were giving her an earful of complaints about this constant barrage of school levies year after year after year, and no matter how much money we give them, they find a way to spend a nickel more. That has to stop and Shannon listened to her constituents, at least the ones who bothered to let her know.”

Most of the people supporting a repeal of Issue 2 are people who profit from the squandering that has been going on. As I came back to my office after speaking with Tiffany, Bill Cunningham was stating that he would support a repeal of Issue 2 and that he stood with public workers. Cunningham like many of the cops and firefighters he’s defending have lived well off the government, so he really has no choice but to take a position against Issue 2. Through his legal work, and his wife who is a current Judge in Cincinnati, he has been a benefactor of public service, and cannot take a hard stand against it now, so he is part of that 50% who still support repealing Issue 2. But as the facts of the matter continue to come out, and it is realized that the public union position against Issue 2 is simply airless rhetoric, as credible as the Move Forward Campaign at Lakota, and dozens upon dozens of other schools all across Ohio, people are waking up.

None of those schools asking for another levy can justify more tax money with any facts, or figures. They cannot discuss how they have mismanaged their union contracts to arrive at the abuse that has wrecked community budgets everywhere. All they can do is ask for more money. That’s the extent of their entire plan. Tax somebody in order to feed them and when the money runs out they’ll still ask for more from someone else………TAX THE RICH!!!! THEY OWE ME SOMETHING!!

Over the next month some of those 50% will either convert their vote to a Yes for Issue 2 out of the guilt they feel deep inside, or they won’t show up to vote, unable to vote against themselves. Because good people will emerge in the final hours of Issue 2 and do the right thing. As more facts reveal the true extent of the public sector union abuse, the good among them will do the right thing and that gap will narrow even closer as the election looms near. The days where public unions rule our community budgets is over, because like I told Tiffany on the delightful autumn breeze that carried my voice during our interview, “It used to be that the school levies would just keep coming and coming and coming until they finally pass them. After all, that’s what’s happening here in Cincinnati. Well, I can say for myself, that if Issue 2 does not pass, then the public unions will see it come back again, and again and again, until it does pass, because we will not take no for an answer. Reforms of public service will occur now, or in the future, but reforms will occur.”

Is it arrogant to say such a thing? Absolutely not, I learned this attitude from the public sector unions themselves, and understand that this is the only way to deal with them. I was watching football over the weekend and thinking about how the public unions were behaving now that they’ve been caught. They looked like a lot of the players who hit a quarterback too late, or too hard, or committed a flagrant penalty which drew a flag. The caught player often becomes animated and acts as though they are innocent of any wrong doing, as if they hope to erase the crime from the minds of the referees. And that’s what I see happening with the public unions now that Issue 2 is that flag, a penalty they have to contend with. They are pretending they did nothing to deserve attention. They pretend that they have made sacrifices, but they conveniently leave out that anything they gave back to the community came out of the portion of their benefits that is already 43.4% over the rest of society, so to call it a sacrifice is insulting. Just as a football player tries to erase a 15 yard penalty so they don’t have to feel the wrath of their teammates from playing too aggressive. The public unions are guilty……….guilty as a collective whole by taking too much from the tax payer, and participating in aggressive extortion when they want more. Even the employees who sat quietly and let their union leaders do their bidding on their behalf are guilty because they knew all along that the money wasn’t free, and somebody had to sacrifice much so they could have a very comfortable job with excellent pay.

But if any doubt in your mind lingers even knowing what we know about Diana Frey, or any of the other public union debacles that we have seen in 2011, just go back and listen to that audio clip from the President of the Cincinnati FOP to hear how business was conducted by public unions before Issue 2 was even written. It is because of meetings like that when people like me said enough is enough. I’m personally done with public unions and I no longer recognize their authority. Issue 2 isn’t worded nearly hard enough for what I asked for and I am angry that Shannon Jones and John Kasich compromised as much as they did. They actually wanted to be fair to the public workers where I was ready to cut them all out to sea.

The public unions are lucky I didn’t write the bill. They should be happy that other people, with cooler tempers were a part of the process, because at least they really don’t lose anything with Issue 2. It just gives management control to elected officials in the future and takes away the ability to stop work from a public worker, which should have been done long ago. And that is a small price to pay for the terrible penalty that the public unions have committed. And it’s only a matter of time before they realize that and join those of us in favor of Issue 2.
