Unions think collective bargaining reform is about revenge, or it’s some conservative conspiracy. Yet this is what the union opposition say is happening. A guy sent me this comment while I was writing this article.
I listen to Doc’s show on 700; he is clueless on Labor and the issues that surround labor. Unions and collective bargaining have built the middle class in this country. What you’re seeing is big corporate interest trying to tear it down. Fire, Police, Teachers and all public workers should be getting a big thank you everyday for the job’s they perform. When you have a Gov that is bought and paid for by Wall ST. this is what you get.
Yet explanations like what I provided in that video are just too simple for the people who have made careers for themselves out of confusing everyone and profiting off the chaos. And that’s what Union Thugs are all about.
What is the typical union thug like? I’m not talking about good people who happen to work in a unionized organization. I’m talking about the people who organize and participate in protests, strikes and the type of lobbying that goes on in state and federal governments.
I’ve received a lot of nasty notes and emails, which I enjoy. But there was one that I show below which wa clean enough, and hits the important issues that I think it worthy to publish here because it displays the mentality of many involved in protests of S.B 5.This is an organized effort to attack this bill, and the people who support it. These people are being fueled by their leaders through email campaigns, and it is through this type of attempted intimidation that the operating costs were increased to the level they are currently, and the reason we need S.B 5 to help Ohio sort through this kind of rhetoric and solve some budget problems.
I find your lies and destructive intent astounding. You display the outright greed and despicable corporate defender attitude that would make Boss Tweed very proud.

(this is a common strategy for union bosses and radical members. They create an “us versus them” mentality that they are on the side of the little guy, fighting for the working class person. Then they try to paint their opponent, in this case me in a marketable and degrading way. Such as the “greed first term.” This person has no idea that I’m a greed first capitalist. I am a capitalist, but I’m certainly not greedy, never have been. And I’ve fought greedy people all my life. But this person knows that their members aren’t very smart so they have to paint the picture in duality, such as worker versus the evil corporation. And what’s my destructive intent. I think it should be illegal for public workers to unionize and I don’t want my tax dollars spent on that activity. How is that bad? You see, even questioning them makes you greedy. That is a designed strategy to make the mass of the REAL middle-class not to question them, because nobody wants to be called names.)
Oh, but teachers, those greedy bloodsuckers, THEY are ripping us off, robbing taxpayers blind. Right.
(I have been asking our local school board to live within their $160 million dollar budget and to not continue to come back to the tax payer for more and more taxes. Taxes are already so high in our district that it makes it unattractive for real estate investors. When I looked into the reason for the escalating costs it turned out to be “step increases” for teachers that were averaging $62K a year. THAT’s THE AVERAGE! And those same teachers had just threatened a strike in 2010 just before asking the community for a new levy. And in 2008 they threatened another strike and their primary issue was wages and benefits. As a result of that it was discovered that most of the school budget of $160 million was tied up almost 80% in wages. The taxes are already very high for residents of the community, so taxes should not be increased any higher. Yet the school board said its hands were tied because state laws required them to increase the budget size to fulfill the contract obligations. After the levy failed, the union made no attempt to work with the community. It was determined that the unions only care for their own interests, and not how they fit into the economics of the community. So legislation must be introduced to protect tax payers from union greed which shows no sign of ending. It is greed because when an organization expects more and more without caring where the money comes from, they are only thinking with their own needs.)
You are a sick disgusting (several extremely descriptive expletives deleted) who can’t wait to turn Ohio into a wasteland of stupid kids ripe for mindless thankless benefitless jobs that your beloved Big Business is more than happy to provide, especially when you wipe out the minimum wage (damned greedy poverty-level unskilled workers!), sick leave, and as much of the rights and benefits that workers have fought and died for over the history of this great nation as you can. What you advocate is nothing less than a return to sweatshops, eighty-hour workweeks, and non-existent disability or unemployment protection. You’ll do it with a thousand tiny cuts, and in the end the state of Ohio will indeed bleed. It will hemorrhage skilled educators and teachers, administrators and children in search of reasonable compensation or education beyond that needed to operate a drive-thru headset. Soon enough no one will have to worry about school levies in Ohio, because there won’t be a decent school or educator in the entire state to see it voted down.
(Here is the name calling. When someone is out of ideas and can’t argue facts they resort to name calling. And they also profess to be able to predict the future with the direst consequences, using such terms as wasteland, and sweatshops. This person also assumes I’m lock step with a political party, which I’m not. They say such things because it fits their small view of the world. The Progressive Party started in 1910 really, and then progressed in power till 1912 when Teddy Roosevelt took control of the party because Taft had won the Republican nomination. Roosevelt wanted so badly to become president again, and to beat Taft that he took on the platform of the Progressive Party which consisted of minimum wage and workplace standards, compensation for job related injuries, strengthen the pure-food law of 1906, institute a system of social insurance with medical coverage for the poor, an income-tax amendment to the Constitution, a commission to inquire into the rising cost of living, and the ability to regulate interstate industrial corporations along with the new concept of the women’s suffrage movement. Unions take credit for all those things, but it was wealthy Republican defectors that were on a religious crusade that split the party and started those ideas which 100 years later we have a report card of where it took us. Some things were good, some things weren’t. However, when unions attached themselves to the progressive platform they have made it impossible for us to go back and fix the things that were broken from that original ideology, and keep the things we find useful. And yes, religion was the centerpiece of the Progressive Party. They sung “Onward Christian Soldiers” while they had their National Convention in Chicago on August 6th 1912. Now progressives, like the author of this letter obviously is, even if they don’t realize that’s what they are, have lost the meaning of religion where it interfered with politics. They didn’t care if their policies were unconstitutional, because they were on a religious crusade to “change the world.” This author proclaims that society will go back to 80 hour week sweat shops. Such a statement is hardly worth commenting on, only most of these radicals protesting outside the State House, and pleading for the status quo actually believe that will happen, because their leaders, their shepherds tell them that distorted fact. And since they are often young, or over-paid and know they can’t make that type of money in the private sector put on the dunce cap and let others do their thinking for them. Schools will become good, and competitive at a much reduced cost. Bad teachers will be removed quickly and good ones will be inserted without a lot of fuss, which is how it needs to be. Teachers like Ryan Fahrenkemp of Lakota, and Stacy Schuler of Mason were hiding their devious acts behind the security of their very protective contract and nobody wanted to deal with it because it is too difficult. School Boards are toothless. The real teeth are in the unions. With S.B.5 teachers will be paid well because parents show they want teachers to teach their children. But the costs will be managed and not become outrageous such as the teachers that are making over 90K a year. At some point step increases must be controlled so the budgets aren’t broken by such behavior, and that is one of the greatest aspects of S.B. 5.)
I find it hysterical in a profoundly sad way that you think our (state’s) treatment of business outrageous (how can we get business if we don’t allow them to rape our state without lubrication for obscene profit?) but you think teachers should work for the sheer love of it, and the $10 a week you want to pay them. Idiot.
(Here is another common theme from these people; they don’t understand what goes on in the mind of a person that creates a job. Entrepreneurs need the ability to attempt and fail, and attempt again. When too many regulations are in front of business, they are likely to not bring business to the state in favor of a state with less regulation. For instance, OSHA is set up as a safety organization within the state. But like many such organizations the power it wields is subject to abuse. Instead of being a regulatory agency that protects the workers of the state they are known for fining companies as a way to raise revenue. A program started with good intentions ends up becoming just a troll charging to cross a bridge, it’s the cost of doing business as they see it. That’s the reputation anyway, so if you were a company wanting to locate to a Midwest location, would you pick Indiana, Kentucky or Ohio, with Ohio being known for having an extorting regulation arm of the government? High paid unionized workers are discouraging for potential employers because they don’t want to be stuck in the situation that the schools are currently in. Employers can’t go to the tax payers to bail them out, unless they’re a company like GM. So they’ll go to a state without such limits. Now the union bosses seek to impose on every state the same, so business will have no place to go. Currently, SEIU is on a campaign to bring unionized workers to every country in the world, so that companies cannot move their operations overseas. That’s how out of touch those people are. Everywhere they are strong, business looks elsewhere. That is why they are looked upon as a social disease to those that don’t directly benefit. And who’s the idiot here? I’d say it’s the fool looking o the past and clinging to the status quo)

The fear mongering is so extreme that he says people will lose their whole life’s work if S.B.5 is passed. How preposterous! I know a lot of people who don’t work for unions that are not part of the corporate machine, and do very well for themselves. These union types are so “addicted” to collective bargaining that they can’t even imagine life without it, yet life will go on. There will be more jobs, not less, ironically. If the basics cannot be understood, all these union types know to do is complain and hold up signs hoping that in mass they can put peer pressure on lawmakers like a crying child screams for a candy bar in a grocery store. And why do these types of people all think rich people drive Hummer’s. I don’t know a single person that has a Hummer. This guy is just showing that he says what other people, union leaders in this case, tell him to think.)
This was not the “liberty” our founders had in mind, the ‘liberty’ to strip American citizens of basic human rights and turn this nation into a desperate, servile and defenseless labor pool much like the one China boasts. (It is interesting that this guy proposes that I lose my citizenship for not wanting to fund unions off tax dollars. This patriotic slant from unions is an attempt to diminish the influence of Tea Parties. To justify this patriotism Progress Ohio has on it’s site a letter from President Eisenhower from 1955, well before the radical issues of the 1960’s, in a hope that unions would work well with the country in establishing healthy labor policies. This letter was an attempt to reach out to union leaders of the AFL-CIO in good faith. ……………………………………………………………………………………………. And while all of you, as to the public business, have a common goal–a stronger and better America–your views as to the best means of reaching that goal vary widely, just as they do in any other group of American citizens.
So in your new national organization, as well as in your many constituent organizations, you have a great opportunity of making your meetings the world’s most effective exhibit of democratic processes. In those meetings the rights of minorities holding differing social, economic, and political views must be scrupulously protected and their views accurately reflected. In this way, as American citizens you will help the Republic correct the faulty, fortify the good, build stoutly for the future, and reinforce the most cherished freedoms of each individual citizen.
This country has long understood that by helping other peoples to a better understanding and practice of representative government, we strengthen both them and ourselves. The same truth applies to the economic field. ………………………………………………………………………….. That’s how far back unions have reached in an attempt to find a position in which to bring patriotism to their cause. They are using the words of the Republican President Eisenhower as if they used those words on their own. We know the history from that point, which has only diminished as union leaders became drunk with power morphing into the tyrants they sought to protect people from. This brings us to the modern-day, where the unions hold so much power that the public officials elected to positions to do the business of the people, cannot do that business because those contracts formed under collective bargaining are too costly and restrictive that tax payers can no longer out of their good natures, continue to fund these activities at the expense to themselves.
And this uneducated, naïve apologist for organized labor has the belief to actually articulate the words that I should lose my citizenship for questioning collective bargaining motives is completely lost to what America is and has strived to be. These are only the mutterings of a radical that attempts with verbal intimidation in this case, or physical intimidation in others, and with mass protests and strikes to coerce out of employers a job with decent wages.
I have never wished to have a union position or the wages that are associated with them, because I always wanted the freedom to think and bargain for myself. I would never trade away that freedom for some collective herd mentality. It doesn’t take a genius to figure out that the money can’t flow forever. Collective bargaining is really just a hot potato game and when the music stops, nobody wants to be holding the ball. Union members for years have been hoping that they can intimidate the people who have their finger on the button to keep them from stopping the music. But the music has stopped, not because anybody pushed the button, but because the song finally ran out. And the people holding the ball now are scared, angry, and ill prepared because what was promised to them isn’t coming true. And they are so mindless that they only know to lash out at the people who point out to them what should be easy for them to see.
Instead they carry signs, make phone calls and try to intimidate anyone they can hoping the music will begin again, and they can return to their life of security under the umbrella of collective-bargaining. But that song will never play again. Not because the republicans are a bunch of “big mean people.” Not because the Tea Party people are “tea baggers” or because the corporations are out to kill Americans and all their babies. But because American society has been burnt by the greed of those union minorities, and the scam they pulled over the eyes of our constitutional obligations.
If anybody should be cussing people out it should be those of us that were lied to, an manipulated by the type of rhetoric leveled at me in letters like this. Because in those words is the heart of a thug that only care for themselves at the expense of taxpayers everywhere.)
It never ceases to amaze me that the immigration issue isn’t a clear-cut issue. The Arizona law SB1070 was an attempt by Arizona to get its problems under control. Yet, when it was enacted the violent reaction to it by portions of our demographic society was alarmingly coordinated.
For all the advocates of “open borders” they are quick to call people like the man in the video below as a “conspiracy theorist” or a “radical” because that man sees that it’s wrong to not have a border that is enforced with some authority. And he is angry that the federal government had the audacity to initiate legal action against a state, just for trying to protect its border from another country.
Let me use another example. Sex used to have more value when women made men work for it. We live in a society that has cheapened everything, so it is difficult for people to see clearly the issue of border enforcement.
Over the summer of 2010 I interviewed Sheriff Jones of Butler County, Ohio who has been trying to convince Ohio to enact similar legislation as Arizona’s SB1070. He has gone so far to explore the possibility of suing the entire country of Mexico for the terrible cost it imposes on the United States. Why? Well, I’ll let the Sheriff explain it himself.
The ideology of the more liberal of America’s population want the border issue cheapened, which is why they are so upset that people like Sheriff Jones, and states like Arizona that are trying to bring value back to what being an American Citizen is.
If only all people would see that being an American should have continued value, and advocating a one world “Open Society” is a foolish enterprise. Making something less valuable so that other places won’t seem so bad is a terribly naive strategy.
And it’s not only bad policy, but it’s technically illegal. The danger is the parties involved in forcing Arizona to back off SB1070 are doing so with the assumption that they can actually bend the will of law to their philosophy through the coercion of imposed case-law.
It’s important that Americans understand what their rights are and how things are supposed to work. Because there are groups that will manipulate the truth to suit their own selfish needs, or political ideology and they’ll do it without any regard for the law.
On Friday, the day the sex scandal broke out in Mason, my wife and I were meeting a couple from England for dinner. Now this is a couple that has been to our house many times and spent a lot of time in the United States. We’ve taken them to most of the restaurants in town at some point in time. Well, this particular Friday night was a special night for the wife and there was only one place she wanted to dine out of all the options available and that was Chick-fil-A.
I have been a fan of Chick-fil-A all my life. As a kid, my mom used to take my brother and me there in between video games at the arcade. The Middletown Mall had a Chick-fil-A inside the mall right next to the arcade and was a source of many, many childhood memories. I have watched Chick-fil-A become one of the most respected franchises in the United States, and that respect starts with the philosophy established by Truett Cathy, one of the few people in this whole world currently living that I truly admire. I admire Cathy because in a world that bends to the will of “pop” culture and all the ridiculous “progressive” arguments of the modern age, he has always run Chick-fil-A with integrity. That is why it is not a mystery that whenever you go to a mall food court, Chick-fil-A is almost always the busiest vender. When you visit a standing facility, the restaurant is constantly busy. And they manage all this business without ever working Sunday.
In a world driven by the market forces of McDonalds that has expanded food service to 24 hours a day 7 days a week, Chick-fil-A has always stayed to their philosophy and centered their food service experience around quality. That is why Chick-fil-A is one of the greatest American companies, and an example of what the United States should be aspiring to.
It’s not an accident, but a family formula that rests on the foundations of faith and firm belief in the power of a family that makes the company so successful.
Chick-fil-A has built one of the most successful companies in America keeping it clean when the trends have been to become steamier and flashier. Chick-fil-A does everything with class, and they are very active in mentoring programs sponsoring leadership.
Here is another of my favorite people, Tony Dungy. Anything he is involved in is successful and he has a great relationship with Chick-fil-A.
So what on earth could possibly be wrong with Chick-fil-A? It is in all respects of the word, successful.
I overheard my daughter’s boyfriend talking about chicken in our kitchen and Chick-fil-A came up. “They’re against gays” he said, as if somehow that term defined the company as a whole. That perked my interest. Chick-fil-A is such a clean company that they don’t have public relations issues. So why would the kid say what he did? He’s a twenty year old, so I thought about the sources he gets his information from, music, TV, certain internet sites that are appealing to young people, so I checked into the allegation and sure enough I found it.
Gay’s were boycotting Chick-fil-A because the company donated food to an organization that supports strong traditional family values, and by a strong family, it means between a man and a woman. But Chick-fil-A wasn’t trying to make a political statement, they were just trying to do something nice, yet, as is the progressive strategy which my daughter’s boyfriend reflected with youthful naivety, the goal is to tear down every organization so nobody wants to do anything nice for anybody in an effort at some utopian equality.
So who are these accusers of impropriety and what kind of people are they? Well, let’s meet a couple of them so we can see who these people are that are trying to shape public policy with their complaints.

Listen, I don’t care what people do to achieve a sexual organism. Girl-guy, girl-girl, a knot-hole in the fence, it doesn’t matter, because such things only consist of less than 5% of the human experience. People that think marriage and sex is somehow the same thing are out of their minds. It’s no wonder the divorce rate is so high in this country because people have forgotten what it’s all about. Same sex marriage is a non-issue. It’s a progressive strategy to undermine American Culture and rebuild it with something……………..progressive. Don’t believe me, go read Colonel Roosevelt. It’s out at book stores right now and is a great book. It’s all about the rise of the progressive experiment, which 100 years later is a dismal failure. An absolute, unmitigated failure, how do I know that? Look at the idiot in the gay video above! Is that what we are offering the future of this nation? Is that who we hand the reigns of this nation to? That dude just wants to suck a sausage. He’s not going to be reading the Federalist Papers any time soon.

Dude, everybody does have a right. You have a right to eat there or not. But you don’t have a right to disrupt their business practice. If you want to boycott them, go ahead. Because you people are in the minority. That’s why Chick-fil-A is a tremendous success, straight up buddy, the law does not support such foolish claims. Progressives through these types of minorities that make so much noise seek to manipulate legislation to recreate law in their vision, and shackle the hands of good companies all across this country. Because of people like these last two jokers, American civilization has suffered greatly with this over sensitivity while our competitors continue to cut off the heads of political dissidents, cut off the noses of women who don’t completely cover their faces and thousands of unreported incidents every single day. What do you think they do with gays in places like Nigeria, and Iran?

He has no idea what he’s saying. No perspective to what’s going on outside his little community. He believes it’s OK to criticize Chick-fil-A for supporting an organization the company personally wanted to support. These gay activist desires to control the behavior of the company, and that’s why the activists are hypocrites, and completely wrong. If they truly believed in rights for all, they’d support Chick-fil-A’s right to support traditional marriage while the rest of us are expected to support marriages centered around anal, and oral sex.
Chick-fil-A is one of the greatest examples of righteousness and equal rights anywhere on this planet. My friends from England knew that, which is why out of every dinning option available to us, they wanted to go to Chick-fil-A, because the food looks like what’s on the menu board, the employees are nice to the customers, the stores are always clean, and even though the company could make millions and millions and millions of dollars more if they were open on Sunday, the company closes to give that day to their employees families. All that care comes out in the final product and it makes the consumer feel good to spend their hard-earned money on a company that is truly good at what it does and is a reflection of what we all wish we could have as part of the American experience everywhere else.
In the face of such scandals as what is being dealt with currently at the Mason School System, and one month ago at the Lakota School System, thousands of rank and file participants within the teachers union crave to put these episodes of unpleasantness behind them. The worst thing in their eyes is for public debate to occur beyond a two-day news cycle. If a story lingers for too long, the value for the service they want to offer diminishes in the eyes of the taxpayer.
The downfall of those status quo protectionists however is technology. No longer can a spokesman tell a group of friendly reporters a controlled diatribe of manipulation intended to diffuse a crisis till it falls from people’s minds as their busy lives consume commitment to a righteous cause. Now with text messaging, and blog sites like this one, information moves freely without the control mechanism of political machines, and is why the FCC is pushing Net Neutrality.
That’s why what happened on 700 WLW February 4th of 2011 was unique as a story broke on that station throughout the day preceding a major indictment from a prosecutor’s office. It started with Sharon Poe speaking about the crises with Doc Thompson and ended 9 hours later after the indictments were announced and attorneys started to chime in with legal discussion. The story is basically this, a teacher Stacy Schuler of the Mason School System was indicted for 16 counts of sexual battery with 5 students. She is also involved in a sexual way with a separate issue involving the assistant principal George Coates. George called in his resignation on February 2, 2011. The story arch was fascinating and is captured in the video below. It is recommended that you activate the video and finish this article while listening if you are fortunate enough to be able to do both. If not, then give yourself some time. It’s a video that is 2 hours and 7 minutes long but condenses 9 hours of radio news breaking evolution over the day and is a compelling story in itself. So turn off the TV and let the video play and enjoy the theater of the mind without commercial interruption for the drama is as good if not better than any movie available to rent.
Sharon (the woman in the interview) and I have known, as most in the Mason community and in neighboring Lakota have known for some time that serious sexual allocations were transpiring in Mason. In fact I have the list of many improprieties, most of them taking place with consenting adults within the system and not directly effecting students. But the number and rank of the participants is alarming for any workplace. This teacher is just the most obvious participant because she got caught. Her actions since they involved students that posted information on Facebook and other online forums could not be quieted by the spin doctors and the info got out into the community.

Scott Sloan came on after Sharon and had been working with the same information we all had but Scott had the guts to act on it. After he went off the air with Doc, a caller from Mason came on and defended the district and proclaimed that WLW was behind on the story and it wasn’t a big deal. WLW was in fact the only news organization running with the story. All the other outlets were waiting for the indictment to come down and reacted predictably once the story broke. That particular caller reflected a huge part of the population that just doesn’t want to deal with bad news.
It is because of people like the caller that these problems in schools have continued. They empower the perpetuation of illicit behavior in public institutions with the same careless abandon that a large portion of the population accepted the seductress explanations from former President Clinton.
The target audience of complacency which Clinton, Obama and teachers unions, along with others, speak to know what they’re doing. They hope to solicit more recruits to their thinking by encouraging public drunkenness, sexual exploits and other forms of decadent behavior because in such personalities are future apologists that won’t have the courage or fortitude to confront difficult issues when they present themselves. And on the backs of such weak souls were built the corruption we are finding in public education. In fact, as I was writing this article I received this comment from a reader which fits in the category just discussed.

That is a guy that doesn’t see how things connect. The misspellings are because that’s how he wrote it, I duplicated it the way I received it. And to respond to that guy, being nuts is to take things at face value, like he obviously does.
You see, it’s not just the sex that is going on with some of the teachers, and administrators. Or principles and assistants that think it’s acceptable to send naked pictures of themselves to co-workers on computers owned by the school. Or child pornography obsessed teachers taking pictures of kids with their shirts off in the classroom. This is about the wholesome advertising of public education services to the community to justify extraordinarily high salaries negotiated by public sector unions. It’s like most things in life, in the end it’s about money.
During the levy campaign back in September after I had made a couple of appearances on WLW the Pro Lakota Campaign had flooded the station with protest letters and accused the station of being disingenuous to teachers and rationalized my questing of the amount of wages being imposed on our community budget as hateful. Their assertion is that because of their educational background and the fact that many of them have master’s degrees that they are better positioned to teach our children and that spending more and more money on public education will yield increased results. Or in the case of Lakota and Mason, it was to keep those districts excellent by approving a tax levy on our properties. We were told, “Wouldn’t you spend just 20 bucks a month to keep your kids safe.”
However, what we are finding is that these people in public positions are just as human as anybody. And these teachers and administrators in these schools are no more qualified to raise our children than our average citizens. This whole issue comes back to the topic of wages and whether or not public education officials should be paid so much and communities should be required to supported collective bargaining agreements.
My day on this historic date started as one of my employees told me about his experience of dropping off his son at Lakota because of the busing cuts. Lakota had stopped using police to guide traffic at the entrance my employee was using as a drop off. Instead a school official named by his son as an assistant principal was directing traffic. That assistant audaciously knocked on my employee’s window and told him to use a different entrance. “You can’t pull in that lot. You have to go to the other side.”
My employee told him that they had a paid parking spot in that particular lot and he had a right to be where he was.
The assistant principal directing traffic told him again to use the other lot.
My employee asked what he was supposed to do about his paid lot, the assistant said; “you should have passed the levy.”
I have instance upon instance given to me about principles at Lakota taking active roles in creating an environment of hostility that if they occurred in my work place, I’d be obligated to address the issue before the behavior corrupted my workforce, but not in public education. They live by different rules than the rest of us. And that becomes evident when you get to know some of them.
That’s why the sex scandals in Mason are important. Even if the teacher is innocent of all 16 counts we know that there is inappropriate behavior that went on between the teacher and the assistant principal at a minimum. As a society do we put up with it, because the taxpayers are the boss in this situation? Or do we just look away? Do we just approve the next levy while the bloated, corrupt monster of public education lingers on under collective bargaining agreements negotiated under school board members trained by the OSBA to carry out to the letter policies created by the teachers unions which are bankrupting communities?
I remember specifically when Lakota threatened to go on strike in 2008. What was their sticking point? Wages. They tried the same general tactic floating the strike word around back in March of 2010. It wasn’t about kids. It was money. Watch that video here. They got what they wanted. It didn’t matter to them if the community could afford it or not.
For those that don’t want to discuss the issue of cost and whether we get the value for the money we spend, I put the blame squarely on your shoulders for the current state of things, public education being just one, but very costly issue. When I hear stories like this sex case, and again, I know there is a lot more to the story which will be revealed, I get angry. I can’t understand why stories like this wouldn’t make people angry. But I also tend to view the world from the perspective of an employer. People that just want to punch their time card and cruise through life tend to look the other way when trouble comes or when taxes are too high and harming the community.
The underlining issue is arrogance. These Mason school employees that are currently in trouble have so little appreciation and respect for their community and where the money comes from that supplies their income that they participate in these reckless sexual activities. That behavior speaks volumes of how public education views the public they serve and it comes out when they are pressed.
The ultimate audacity is revealed in the Mason spokesman Tracy Carson when she was on with Tracy Jones and Scott Sloan putting on a happy face for the Mason District on January 26th, the same day that Stacy Schuler was put on leave. No doubt Mrs. Carson will say that she didn’t know about the teachers coming legal trouble, but what kind of spokesman wouldn’t know about this story, because I was hearing about it, and it’s not even my job to know. I find it hard to believe Tracy didn’t know. The story was out well before implementing the leave and if the spokesman knew anything about what was happening in the school, she’d know about this teacher, because everyone else did.
Yet, listen to her words on WLW. Do you think she actually thought the Mason school system could contain this story? Depending on how you answer that question will determine your ability to think critically. Because the bet from these people is this, you can’t think critically even when the evidence is right in front of you.
Egypt is not the first and it won’t be the last to suffer the type of insurrection witnessed upon the final weekend of January 2011. The crime in that civil disobedience that has already claimed lives is not whether or not the radical’s clamoring to over-throw a ruthless dictator, only to inject a radical Muslim government which believes in killing all whom do not practice their religious ideology. It’s not that the United States has yet been caught again supporting such a dictator in order to maintain stability in a world still behaving with an infants mentality. You’d think the CIA and “other” forces would have learned from Saddam Hussein, and Osama Bin Laden and a long list of others that had support of the United States, to not attempt to manipulate governments with subversive tactics, because they almost always come back to haunt us later.

The real crime here is in the destruction of history. The vandalism of the Egyptian Museum is a modern example of such destruction, and insight into the catastrophic devastation of our own world history.
Of course the official report is that just a couple of mummies had their heads ripped off, and there was some broken glass. I have been thoroughly enraged most of my life that the Romans burned the Library in Alexandria. Depending on what story you believe, Caesar set fire to the Egyptian Fleet when trapped and outnumbered and the fire spread to the city and destroyed the Library there. The information lost in that act of destruction most likely cost mankind a firm understanding of our past.
The constant trouble in Iraq and the Middle East in general has deprived many researchers from proper archeology of the region. Most of what has been done up to this point is just speculation supported with some artifacts. Because of the violence, research can’t take place openly. The loss of the Library of Baghdad was a tremendous failure.
Hitler participated in book burning, the Spanish conquistadors destroyed the Mayan codices, and the Qin Dynasty of China burned numerous books and buried scholars to suppress the past.
Here in the United States Anthony Comstock founded the New York Society for the Suppression of Vice, founded in 1873 to prevent the spread of “lewd, objectionable” books. Under this Society was the destruction of around 15 tons of books, 284,000 pounds of plates for printing books, and nearly 4 million pictures. I first ran into the work of Comstock when I was a kid of about 10 or 11 years old. I used to subscribe to a Rare Books and Prints company in New York that would send me a quarterly catalog of rare books under their collection. Many of these books were several thousand dollars each, and were one or two of a kind, and Comstock had helped make those books so rare.
These days, the places I most enjoy are places like Barnes and Noble. I love the book store down on Newport on the Levy. And I love Books a Million. My wife and I often spend hours and hours in these stores every couple of weeks. I also adore Amazon.com because they sell, or can connect you with many rare books. One of my great treasures is a simi “rare” book by Claire Chennault called Way of the Fighter written in 1947 and published in 1949. I looked for that book for over ten years and my daughter had found it on Amazon and given it to me on Christmas one year. It’s in good condition and costs well over $100, so it wasn’t easy for her to get. That book isn’t as rare as others, but the point is, it shouldn’t be rare, because it was printed in the modern age. The story with that book is that Chennault was very; very critical of the United States policy in China which eventually allowed communism to take over the country after he’d spent 6 or 7 years defending China from Japan, and the rise of communism with just a rag-tag group of fighters called the Flying Tigers. Chennault, a brilliant general and tactician, predicted the rise of the conflict in Korea, and in Vietnam, but nobody listened. Instead, there was pressure from the government to the publisher to not print many of those books from that aging general, and to just let him fade away into obscurity, which is pretty much what happened to Chennault and his predictions.
What can be learned from this is that Chennault’s book is only 60 years old, and it is evidence of why a book had restricted printing, and gradually it will be completely wiped out as people die off, and sell books like that in garage sales and they end up molding away in a basement someplace. In a hundred years, they’ll all be gone. That brings us back to the Library of Alexandria founded sometime around 323–283 BC and may have had tablets and papyrus thousands of years old.
Here is the description from Wikipedia: The first known library of its kind to gather a serious collection of books from beyond its country’s borders, the Library at Alexandria was charged with collecting the entire world’s knowledge. It did so through an aggressive and well-funded royal mandate involving trips to the book fairs of Rhodes and Athens[8] and a policy of pulling the books off every ship that came into port. They kept the original texts and made copies to send back to their owners. [9] This detail is informed by the fact that Alexandria, because of its man-made bidirectional port between the mainland and the Pharos island, welcomed trade from the East and West, and soon found itself the international hub for trade, as well as the leading producer of papyrus and, soon enough, books. Talk about rare books.
And when there was a conflict even out in the harbor, and the fire accidently spread and destroyed the library, those rare books are now lost forever, and the history with it.There are more than a few modern educators, or people that make their money off education, such as union leaders, that think some of my articles on “cryptic” anthropological issues, such as the Giants of Ohio, and the Real Origins of the Human Race are hokey. These are the same type of idiots that ridiculed Isaac Newton, or Christopher Columbus for their beliefs. People who are “really” educated, not just making money off it, know that there is a lot that we don’t know and can’t know unless we do the research.
So when you see thugs, radicals, socialist, creeps, revolutionaries, soldiers of fortune, and other opportunists hiding in the crowds of protesters in Egypt, know that there is a serious risk of losing valuable aspects of our past that is already swallow at best. Seeing tanks parked outside the Pyramids of Egypt is a sad and pathetic site.
It is inconceivable how many archeological sites were destroyed in the Middle East because Woodrow Wilson and his conspirators after World War l created through the Treaty of Versailles countries like Iraq and Iran and other territories that were intended to be run by British and French interests, finally breaking up the Ottoman Empire. And for those that don’t understand anything about the Ottoman Empire, it looks as though these various factions are looking to recreate it with radical Muslim fundamentalism. Through these conflicts, we are going to lose countless artifacts that connect us with the past, which will prevent us from fixing our future. So while the news broadcasts talk about the increase in oil prices, and the struggle of Israel, the real strategy will go unreported and therefore is the real cost to society.
I wish George Bush had leveled with the American People about why defending the faults of Wilson and the gang was important to the United States now. Because we committed ourselves to defending the region whether or not we have a right to or whether the land should return to strictly Muslim rule. The real evil lays in the hands of the progressive view of the world everywhere and their soft little minds of sympathy that can’t see one foot in front of themselves. To back out from the region now would only invite more violence and create a united and dangerous enemy that would lead to a much larger scale war. It’s far easier to defeat small factions of tribes or political groups. But several countries united under a common cause, like what’s happening, can lead to a much more bloody conflict. The “oil” buzz word just makes a complicated situation easy for people to relate to. But when you get caught in that over simplification, like Bush did, it makes you look dishonest and incompetent. That’s what the revolutionaries in Egypt right now are saying about America and our support of their hated dictator.
The damage to the Egyptian Museum is a travesty to us all.

Keep in mind that there are already sleeper agents in the United States, just as the Communist Sleeper Agents were put in place under the guise of “progressivism.” That means members of the media are playing a part as “sleeper agents.” And if you think that’s too conspiratorial, stop watching Sex in the City for a little bit and read the PDF file and educate yourself.
Special interests are already salivating to have a crack at Governor Kasich’s defenses, quickly attacking his staff for their lack of “diversity.”
Diversity in “progressive” terminology means “no white straight people who are men.” But for the rest of us, diversity means anybody, of any gender, sex, or nationality. “When the governor acknowledges them [gays] as a minority group, which they are not, you’re also saying to them that their behavior is OK. And it’s NOT OK to engage in this type of behavior when it’s gonna cause you possibly to die from AIDS.”

With those short sentences, Citizens for Community Values, a group that endorsed John Kasich for governor, proved that bigotry still exists in the public square. They oppose any protections for LGBT workers and made outrageous, inaccurate statements that played on radio stations across Ohio on Tuesday.
The irony is that Governor John Kasich has already found a way to deny state workers basic rights they had under Gov. Ted Strickland. Last week, Kasich signed a “non-discrimination” Executive Order and purposely removed ‘Gender Identity’ from the employment protections, despite promises that he would keep those protections during his campaign.
The interviews aren’t intended to protect John Kasich. When Doc interviewed a radical socialist organizing the Defend Ohio Rally a few weeks ago, (you can hear that interview too) Doc agreed with the socialist when the activist criticized the amount of money the Governor was paying members of his cabinet. So as would be the tendency of progressives, not everyone follows “bullet point” politics as they do, where they follow without question the rhetoric of their “leaders.”
The people I know, myself included don’t follow leaders, so we can criticize public officials and still support aspects of their political platforms.
Most progressives that I know think the world is some tribal council where a tribe leader tells the whole village how to behave. Wasn’t it Hillary Clinton that said “it takes a village?”
The goal behind the attacks on Kasich is to put him on a defensive so these radical groups can gain some form of control of the Governor’s behavior. Because Kasich could never make those radical types happy unless he ignored “qualified white men” and hired blacks, Asians, and homosexuals, and sadly a lot of politicians actually cave under that type of pressure.
I find it ironic that when Ken Blackwell ran for governor against the white Ted Strickland none of these progressives stood behind Ken. Ken was a very good candidate for governor. I was ready to support him. I would have helped with his campaign in less than a second. When I think of Ken it NEVER occurs to me that he’s a black man. But he’s a smart guy, and I’d vote for him any day.
But to assign personnel because they are “gay” or a “woman” or of some exotic nationality is to actually discriminate against people!
The facts of the matter are that none of this is about “equal rights.” It’s about control, power, manipulation, and turning the minds of the American people so they get dizzy and look to a progressive leader for clarification.
So a note to progressives, the people of Ohio did not send Kasich to the governorship of this state to be a lap dog to anybody. Everyone, including myself, may not like everything he does as a person or as a governor. But it’s expected of him to balance the budget and does the work of the people of Ohio without concern for his political future and to let the chips fall where they may with regard to all the weak-kneed emo’s that seek to further undermine our great republic.
Bulldog Nation did a very nice bit of reporting into the streetcar issues surrounding the planned project due for construction in downtown Cincinnati. It’s well worth watching.
For those of you that don’t know who the “Bulldog” is, he’s Eric Deters, local attorney and part-time WLW host. He’s a passionate guy that I enjoy quite a bit. If the world had more people like Eric, we wouldn’t have too many problems in the country.
American’s don’t always have to agree. But American’s do need to care in order for our republic to work, and no one can accuse The Bulldog of not caring.
Now, because he is passionate, and I can relate, he has plenty of enemies. So for those of you that are putting together the name Eric Deters to the recent Enquirer controversy, you have to understand the nature of politics. Bulldog has recently produced a fantastic video dealing with the U.S. Border issues in Arizona, and now he’s done this thing on the streetcar. So special interests are coming after him.
One of the great things about Eric is he’s not afraid to speak up though, and I’ll put up his defense of those allocations here, so any doubts that might come up which might detract from the great video on the streetcar issue, can be settled right now.
And 5 to 10 years down the road, the streetcar will be another drain on our local economy. But it won’t be because the information wasn’t given to the public beforehand. It’ll be because people sat on their hands and did nothing.
Bill Cunningham had on a superintendent from Clermont Northeastern that has been very successful at saving his district money by thinking “outside the box.” Listen to that interview here.
What’s interesting about that interview is the superintendent is actively pursuing innovative cost savings as opposed to the approach at Lakota where they spent over $50,000 just searching for a new superintendent to replace the retiring Mike Taylor. The Lakota method is the “old” way, where inflated costs are built into every step of the process, and the footprints most always lead to organized labor.
The superintendent of tomorrow will find ways to save money at every turn, including the elimination of such extraordinary candidate searches as Lakota participated in. The School Board elected to spend $40,000 looking for a treasurer, and $50,000 looking for a superintendent that they haven’t yet hired.
The superintendent of tomorrow will not be bullied by union leaders as what happened at Lakota on the last Thursday of October 2008 where the teacher’s union of 1,200 members threatened to walk out on all 18,000 students they profess to think so much of. What was the primary issue in that proposed strike? Pay!
The superintendent of tomorrow wouldn’t have paid into the union system for 25 years or more and then take a passive position at the negotiating table as what happened when both sides, the LEA and the Lakota officials sat down after school that memorable Wednesday just before Halloween and finally hammered out an agreement at 12:30 AM Thursday morning, the day the LEA was ready to walk off the job.
I know quite a few teachers around the country. Specifically, in Oldham County, KY, which is one of Kentucky’s most exclusive communities, there is a teacher with a master’s degree in science that teaches geology, and his rate of pay is just shy of 50K. Doc Thompson a few weeks ago had on another teacher that was from Atlanta that was making wages in the mid-40’s, and I thought he had some valid arguments.
At Lakota, the LEA has been successful at convincing the School Board and the Superintendent that teachers should be paid on average over 62K per year, which is what they are currently being paid at Lakota. In fact, Mike Taylor is quoted saying, “I don’t think teachers are paid enough.” Such superintendents have recklessly encouraged the extraordinary wage rates that are occurring at Lakota.
And the economic disaster that is being described which is hitting Lakota is caused by these same wages that are too high if it is considered that state money is not a factor and that the communities must fund the budget on their own. The superintendent of tomorrow will help keep wage cost in line to protect the communities they serve and still maintain great teachers for a good price.
When we find this superintendent of tomorrow, we can begin to solve some of the problems of today, but not until then.

2010 K-12 Teacher Salary and Estimated Pension Data added to Searchable Database along with Search Counter
COLUMBUS – The Buckeye Institute for Public Policy Solutions today released on its website the 2010 K-12 salary and estimated pension data for all Ohio public school teachers. Unlike the data collected for previous years, the 2010 data includes salary and pension information for many superintendents, principals, and other administrative staff members. The pension data includes each teacher’s salary based on a 2,080-hour year (40 hour work-week, 52 week year) so users can properly evaluate teacher pay, as most teachers are contractually limited to working 1,350 hours per year.
In 2010, approximately 1,800 school employees earned over $100,000 per year. Due to increasing staffing costs, Ohio’s 613 public school districts are expected to face a $7.6 billion funding deficit by 2015, with personnel expenses consuming 96 percent of tax revenues.
In the last election, citizens used the Teacher Salary Database to hold their school districts accountable for spending choices, citing that average teacher salaries had grown at rates that, in many cases, far outpaced inflation.
In addition to the new data, the website now contains a search counter which records the number of searches performed in the eight database tools (State Salary, Federal Salary, Higher Ed Salary, Teacher Salary, Local Salary, School Data, County Data, and State Lobbyists). Since the website’s launch on April 30, 2010, visitors from 473 Ohio cities, the 49 other states, and 119 foreign countries have spent over 20,000 hours conducting almost 1.5 million data searches.
Buckeye Institute President Matt A. Mayer stated: “With so many school districts under financial duress, it is now even more important than ever that taxpayers know how school districts are spending their money. Instead of cutting staff positions, sports, bussing, and other programs, most school districts could balance their budgets without raising taxes through cutting staff compensation packages by a small percentage.”
