Lakota Teacher Accused of Stealing from Kids: $800 looted from prom tickets

Yes you heard it correctly, a Lakota East teacher who made more than $65,443 per year, (Yes, she’s on my list CLICK HERE TO SEE FOR YOURSELF) stole $800,00 from the prom fund. Well, she resigned this week and Lakota attempted to put a nice spin on the situation by stating that they were cooperating with the Butler County Sheriff Department. You can read the article from The Cincinnati Enquirer here:

http://westchesterbuzz.com/2012/05/11/lakota-teacher-investigated-over-prom-funds/

My sources from deep inside the Lakota administration have informed me that this economics-psychology teacher is now in the psych ward at a hospital and a family member has returned $160 of the $800 stolen. So there appears to be some deep problems with this particular teacher.

But just remember when Lakota attempts to pass another levy to pay for their inflated union contracts protecting teachers who are hiding behind the protective blanket of organized labor–that the teachers are far from being perfect, and I’d argue that most of them aren’t even close to being worth over $65K per year in just salary. This particular teacher made over $65,000 on the 2011 report and wasn’t hurting for money. Yet she put herself in a position to appear to be helping students who were having trouble getting into the prom, and pocketed the money and for that she has resigned.

The kids at the school were the first to break this story and many of us had the details much of the week. I held on to the information until I had multiple confirmations. So I’m not particularly impressed when Superintendent Mantia said “We take all matters involving potential illegal activity very seriously. We acted with urgency to handle this situation appropriately. We are cooperating fully with the (Butler County) Sheriff’s office.” Well—duh! What else would she think would be expected of her and her teachers.

There has been a lot of very bad behavior reported about teachers and principals at Lakota and other schools at this site. But continuously, the administration at Lakota continues to show that they have the same kind of control over their teachers as they do with their budgets—which is to say—none at all. In Lakota teachers feel they can do anything they please, and nobody cares, until they get caught.

I shudder to think about how much my old buddy Elliot Grossman charged Karen (Mantia) for that little quote in the Enquirer. One can only guess. You can see Elliot’s billing sheets to Karen by CLICKING HERE where the details of the $90,000 payout to Laura Kursman was dealt with. That incident involving the payout which cost $100,000 only occurred a few months ago. Lakota is such an exciting school, payoffs to former PR Directors, teachers stripping down children in the classroom and taking pictures of them, teachers seducing parents of students, and now teachers scalping prom tickets and pocketing the money. Wow, that sounds like a great social institution!

To me it sounds like a joke that only the misfits and social apologists are laughing at.

Enjoy your lattés!

  1. The teacher is in a mental ward. That teacher was allowed in the classroom with mental problems that deep? What do you want to bet the union will protect that teacher and say she resigned out of duress and get her on “medical leave?” Eventually she will be allowed in the classroom again. Or, she may be paid for the rest of her life on ‘medical leave.” That income will be better than her current salary. Sorry taxpayers. You will bite the bullet one more time.

Mantia knows she is in trouble, but the board will keep paying others to do the job she was hired to do. They won’t have much choice because, like all districts, she was given an extended contract.

    1. That’s the funny thing about these issues is we always find out that these teachers had some sickness that nobody in the school knew about………(COUGH)–Stacy Schuler–insane………………and somehow our kids are so safe and in such good hands by these well paid for teachers. Then we find out that the same teacher who was teaching in a classroom one week has major problems the next. What’s to keep any of these teachers from snapping in front of a class of 30 students? What will make all the kids safe when they can’t trust their teachers and they have to walk to school because the busing has been cut. Sounds like public education is pretty dangerous to me. If parents really loved their kids, they’d home school them. That’s the only way to really give a child the love and protection they deserve.

      1. First, this is the one and only media venue I will release this to:
I’m Heathers fiancée. You don’t have the complete story, and the paper is getting a skewed story from the school. Trust me; Heather and I are financially secure, she does not need money.
Heather has an eating disorder. Anyone with the slightest intelligence knows how destructive eating disorders can be. I have loved Heather for almost 4 years, yet, I still underestimate how powerful an eating disorder can be. Imagine being an alcoholic and having to drink alcohol everyday to survive. She has an eating disorder and yet she has to eat everyday to survive. Heather is the most wonderful, loving, intelligent, beautiful woman I have ever known in my lifetime. She had an “extremely” rough childhood that was forced upon her by someone else. The story of her childhood would even make a heartless jerk such as you cry. What she did was inexcusable and she is truly sorry for what happened. This action has resulted in Heather loosing “EVERYTHING” including her children’s love. I pray the public is satisfied with this punishment and need no further justification. The school and the “national” media have continually pounded Heather over this incident. Worse things have happened in Lakota schools; yet have received less media attention. Heather has cried in my arms everyday since, she has cry’ed herself to sleep every night since. If you had the chance to know Heather, you would discover how amazingly wonderful she is overflowing with love and compassion towards others. If you watched interact with her classroom, you would know what a wonderful and incredible educator she is. Her students love her. Countless students have called her with words of support. She simply allowed a disorder take control… We have ALL made mistakes in life.

Before anyone “emotionally” reply’s to this essay, please research eating disorders, gain an understanding of the destructive path ED force women down. The path that is forced upon these women is truly heart breaking.
To the media; please stop, let Heather and me piece our lives back together.
        Michael

      2. I’m glad you offered that for people to read. And you are right, there have been a lot worse that has went on. I find it interesting that this story gained so much interest as opposed to the other terrible stories.

    2. Sassypatriot; you are truly a mental midget. Ever time you open your mouth, you prove that you don’t have a clue what life is truly about. You’re just looking for attention like a six year old child. Before you open your uneducated trap again, read all the reply’s.
People like you shouldn’t have the internet because you can’t think for yourself. All you do is simply jump on another persons “bash boat” and go along for a ride on burrowed intelligence.

      I’m done with you…

      1. Michael, I want to say that you sound like a wonderful person. Im having a tough time equating an eating disorder with stealing from children, but hell, I’m not perfect , and lord knows we all have our issues–and you sound very sincere–i will say that my immediate reaction to the story was “here we go again”, because under this principal there just seems to be constant issues with the teachers or the HR dept…..so please understand my immediate reaction was to roll my eyes and say what is up with all the bad behavior.
If what you said is true, she is a lucky woman to have for support, and I hope for her recovery and some peace in both your lives.
please don’t judge us too harshly on here…..

      2. But he called me a heartless jerk………..that made me cry all day……………………I don’t think I’ll ever recover……………….

Don’t worry about what they think of us. That touchy feely crap costs too much money. I appreciate the info, so I won’t chomp into that any more, even though having an eating disorder does not explain how the money was stolen.

  2. Didn’t anyone notice that she suffered from an e/d and offer to help her? I am sure worse things do go on. I am sure others have helped themselves to money that didn’t belong to them. If people want seriously good schools they should all work together to make sure evil doesn’t lurk in the halls of said institutions. Teachers do collect money for all sorts of activities. Many of them have access to school credit cards. There has to be more than trust – there has to be accountability. Michael, I really don’t care if you hate what I have to say. I really don’t care about your love life. Maybe what you wrote is true and maybe it isn’t. It makes no difference. The teacher needed help for a very obvious condititon and she didn’t get it. If she does get help and recovers from her condition, maybe she can return to a classroom somewhere. I bet Ms. Mantia will not be the unforgiving person that you say you are.
